| Assets: | All power. Can really pound it from the tee box and possesses a superb long-iron game. Decent accuracy from the fairways and a hot putter often translate into a lot of birdie opportunities. |
| Flaws: | Still raw. Needs to mature and play less with his instincts. His go-for-broke style isn't a great fit on venues that require a more strategical approach. Still very inconsistent. |
| Career Potential: | Occasional tour winner with upside. |

Watney won't play the weekend at TPC Sawgrass | 05/10/2013 4:59 PM
News
At 2-over-par 76-70=146, Nick Watney will miss the cut at THE PLAYERS.
Rotoworld.com
Impact
For all intents and purposes, Watney painted himself into a corner on Thursday when he hit only seven greens in regulation and swallowed six bogeys against just two birdies. He tried to reel in a paycheck with 14 GIR and five birdies today, but still carded one bogey and a double. Overall, he played the par 5s in even par with three birdies and three bogeys. This is his first weekend off in an even with a cut since Pebble Beach in February. |

Birdie-free final round for Watney at WFC | 05/05/2013 2:06 PM
News
Nick Watney entered the final round of the Wells Fargo Championship in a tie for the lead with Phil Mickelson, but a birdie-free 4-over-par 38-38=76 dropped him into a share of 10th at 4-under 284.
PGATOUR.com
Impact
It was a day Watney would like to forget, and if you go back to his shanked approach at the par-3 17th on Saturday he played his final 20 holes in a dismal 6-over. He'll try and shake it off as he heads to TPC Sawgrass for THE PLAYERS. |

Watney leads Wells Fargo despite a late shank | 05/04/2013 5:57 PM
News
Nick Watney shook off a shank at the 17th hole of the Wells Fargo Championship to share the lead at 8-under-par 208, with a 1-under 35-36=71 in the third round.
Rotoworld.com
Impact
Watney was in and around the lead most of the day, but after Phil Mickelson made a double bogey on the par-5 15th, Watney was in control of the tournament at 10-under. He then stepped on the tee at the par-3 17th and hit what could only be described by the CBS broadcasters as a shank, leaving a 78-yard second shot from just off the cart path. It added up to a double-bogey five. He gathered himself to par the difficult 18, and with that shares the 54-hole lead with Mickelson. |

Watney sits two back at Wells Fargo midpoint | 05/03/2013 6:14 PM
News
Overnight co-leader Nick Watney backed up his opening 67 at the Wells Fargo Championship with a 2-under-par 35-35=70 in his second round.
Rotoworld.com
Impact
A rather pedestrian round for a guy that has been feeling it lately. He hit 13 greens in regulation and buried four birdies against two bogeys. His par breakers included rolls from 31'10" and 12'7" at the eighth and 12th holes, respectively. He also poured in a par save from 15'2" at 11. Watney signed his card sitting two strokes off the 36-hole clubhouse lead of Phil Mickelson with whom he was paired during the first two rounds. |

Watney lights up back nine for third-round 68 | 04/13/2013 2:24 PM
News
Nick Watney blitzed the back nine at Augusta National on his way to a third-round 5-under-par 36-32=68 at the Masters.
Rotoworld.com
Impact
Watney birdied each of the par 5s on the front, but gave back bogeys on the par-4 first and third holes. When he made the turn, he gave back his third bogey of the round at the par-4 10th, but went on a tear to play the next six holes in 6-under. Included in that were birdies at 11, 13, 14 and 16 with an eagle at the par-5 13th mixed in. Quick math says he played the par 5s in 5-under. After a bogey on the 18th, he enters the final round at 1-under 215. |

Watney goes bogey-free in the opening round | 03/21/2013 1:47 PM
News
Nick Watney crafted a bogey-free, 3-under-par 35-34=69 in his opening round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Rotoworld.com
Impact
After an inspiring beginning to the 2013 season, Watney has finished outside the top 40 in his last four stroke-play starts, so perhaps that drought will be ending. He got up and down four times at Bay Hill today. He also rolled in three birdies, including conversions from 15'6" at the fifth hole and 20'1" at 12. He's four strokes off the clubhouse lead. |

Watney shuts out Toms in the opening round | 02/21/2013 7:29 PM
News
Nick Watney breezed to a 5-and-4 victory over David Toms in the Snead Bracket in their opening match of the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship.
Rotoworld.com
Impact
This match ended mercifully for Toms with pars on the 14th hole. He failed to record a single birdie and suffered six bogeys along the way. Meanwhile, Watney won all five holes -- four with birdies, one with a par -- to sail into his second-round match with Steve Stricker. Watney has lost in the third round in all three of his appearances in this tournament (circa 2010). |

Watney in the hunt yet again @ TPC Scottsdale | 01/31/2013 9:21 PM
News
Nick Watney buried seven birdies en route to a 6-under-par 33-32=65 in his opening round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Rotoworld.com
Impact
Here he is again. Safe to say that the equipment change to Nike is both agreeing with him and hasn't diminished his form that he carried over from 2012. He hit 15 greens in regulation at TPC Scottsdale today. His longest birdie measured 22'7" at the sixth hole. His only notable mistake was a bogey-5 at 2 where he missed the green with his approach and failed to convert his par putt from 8'7". |

Watney fails to surge in Farmers final round | 01/28/2013 6:38 PM
News
Nick Watney entered the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open with a chance to apply some pressure to 54-hole leader Tiger Woods, but a final-round 1-under-par 32-39=71 wasn't enough to get the job done.
PGATOUR.com
Impact
With a blemish-free 4-under under his belt at the turn, he looked poised to challenge for the title. It wasn't meant to be, as he suffered through four bogeys on the back before finally knocking in a birdie from just inside four feet on the closing hole. That birdie was good enough to at least allow him a share of fourth with Jimmy Walker. Expect him to throw his name into the hat of contenders at this week's Waste Management Phoenix Open. |

Watney fades late in Farmers third round | 01/27/2013 6:14 PM
News
Nick Watney had a nice round going in the third round of the Farmers Insurance Open, but late bogeys forced him to settle for a 1-under-par 33-38=71.
Rotoworld.com
Impact
Watney had his round all the way to 4-under, circling four birdies in a five-hole span starting at the par-6 sixth. He would begin his retreat quickly, squaring bogeys on the 11th and 12th and concluding his round with a disappointing 3-putt bogey on the par-5 18th. He will regroup quickly, as his 8-under 208 tally leaves him chasing Tiger Woods. |

News
Nick Watney turned in a bogey-free, 4-under-par 34-34=68 at Torrey Pines North for his second round of the Farmers Insurance Open.
Rotoworld.com
Impact
It's been a solid week thus far for the 31-year-old. He opened with a 69 on the South, incurring only one bogey on the harder of the two courses. Today's loop around the North included four birdies. He signed his card with an active streak of 32 holes without a bogey. Through 36 holes, he's 7-under 137, four strokes adrift of the clubhouse lead at the midpoint. |

News
Nick Watney settled for an even-par 37-36=73 in the second round of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.
Rotoworld.com
Impact
Watney may have worn down over the course of 36 holes in one day, entering the second round tied for the lead at 4-under. That is where he remains entering Tuesday's finale. He could have taken it a little deeper had he taken advantage of the par 5s, but played them in just 2-under. |

Watney's late surge joins the leaders at HTOC | 01/07/2013 7:17 PM
News
Nick Watney surged to the top of the leaderboard late in the first round of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions at 4-under-par 36-33=69.
Rotoworld.com
Impact
After limping out of the gates with bogeys on the third and fourth holes, he played the remaining 14 holes in bogey-free 6-under. Included in that run was a birdie on the par-5 15th and an eagle to end the round on the par-5 18th from 68'1". He joins Mark Wilson and Dustin Johnson as an 18-hole co-leader. |

Late wins define Watney's 2012 ahead of HTOC | 01/02/2013 9:56 PM
News
Nick Watney broke out of a mediocre 2012 to win The Barclays and with it a tee time at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.
PGATOUR.com
Impact
While it wasn't enough to earn him a spot on Davis Love III's Ryder Cup team, it did pave the way for him to play in the TOUR Championship. He also picked off a win at the CIMB Classic at the end of October. Keep an eye on him early, as the long-time Titleist staffer has switched to Nike equipment to start 2013 and we don't know if that will have any impact on his performance. |
