Snedeker taking meds for 'low bone turnover' | 05/21/2013 4:48 PM
News
An expansive article at Golf.com reveals that Brandt Snedeker learned recently that he has a rare condition in his ribs referred to as low bone turnover.
Golf.com
Impact
In short, Snedeker's ribs don't regenerate at the rate of a healthy 32-year-old. "I had everything tested [at the Mayo Clinic] and they found this one anomaly in my DNA," he said. "What it boils down to is that my ribs are just really brittle compared to the rest of my bones. So I'm on this medication [Forteo] that is supposed to strengthen your bones and keep this stuff from happening." (Forteo is not among the prohibited substances on the PGA TOUR's drug policy.) While he's dealt with four cracked ribs in recent years, Snedeker's latest malady was a strained oblique muscle originally sustained in January before the Humana Challenge. He played through it and capped a ridiculous run with a win at Pebble Beach. Now that he has a lid on this condition, we should expect consistently strong form moving forward. The 2012 FedExCup champ is on a two-week respite before next week's Memorial. He's posted top 10s in two of his last three starts. |

Despite poor stats, Snedeker spins 70 at TPC | 05/12/2013 6:25 PM
News
Brandt Snedeker spun a 2-under-par 34-36=70 in the final round of THE PLAYERS, picking up a top 10 with his 7-under 281 effort.
PGATOUR.com
Impact
When you look at Snedeker's stat sheet, it's a little hard to believe he managed to break 75 in the final round, much less end the day under par. His six birdies and four bogeys were a product of him splitting just six (of 14) fairways and landing 10 GIR, all the while losing strokes to the field with the putter. He will not compete in the HP Byron Nelson Championship later this week. |

Snedeker follows 2008 pattern at Harbour Town | 04/21/2013 12:23 PM
News
Brandt Snedeker ended a disappointing week at the RBC Heritage with a 3-over-par 36-38=74 and a 5-over 289 final tally.
Rotoworld.com
Impact
Snedeker's week was similar to his 2008 trip to Harbour Town which also occurred a week after a final pairing at the Masters. In '08, he followed up a T3 at the Masters with a T53 at the Hertiage. That season he had to wait until the U.S. Open in June for his next top 10. The lesson for gamers is that he needs a little time to get over the heartbreaking losses, so don't invest too much in him until it is clear he's gotten over the sting of near misses in majors. |

News
Brandt Snedeker opened the RBC Heritage with a 2-over-par 38-35=73.
Rotoworld.com
Impact
This was one of those rounds when it seemed that Snedeker lost his focus. He started on the 10th hole and went par-birdie-par-par before the gasket ruptured. He missed a par save from 4'1" at the par-3 14th, and then chased it with a bogey-6 at 15 where he fanned on a par attempt from 17 inches. Two more bogeys trailed at 17 and 18 before he righted the ship and played his second nine bogey-free. Overall, he hit only nine greens in regulation and missed four putts inside eight feet. |

Snedeker stumbles on back nine at Augusta | 04/14/2013 7:07 PM
News
Brandt Snedeker opened the final round of the Masters with a birdie on the difficult opening hole, but collapsed with a 3-over-par 36-39=75 down the stretch.
PGATOUR.com
Impact
Snedeker was in control of his round, trading two birdies for two bogeys on his outward nine. It began to unravel for him on the par-4 10th, finding the trees with his drive and eventually missing what couldn't have been more than a three-foot par putt. He would then bogey the 11th, 14th and 18th, mixing in just one birdie on the par-5 15th. This is the second time he played in the final pairing in the Masters, with the first ending in a tie for third in 2008. He is scheduled to tee it up in the RBC Heritage, where he won in 2011. |

Impact
Snedeker patiently parred his opening 12 holes before securing his first birdie on the par-5 13th after his second shot settled just over the green. He added birdie number two at the par-5 15th with a two-putt from above the hole. Perhaps his highlight of the day was his tee shot on the par-3 16th, coming to rest within a few feet of the hole for a kick-in birdie. He secured pars on 17 and 18th, and with it a date in the final pairing on Sunday afternoon. He was in a similar position in 2008 but failed to close the deal, finishing tied for third with a final-round 77. |

He hit 12 greens in regulation and took 27 putts, picking off six birdies including on each of the four par 5s. At least he left Bay Hill on a high note, with a walk-off 33-footer for birdie at the par-4 ninth hole. Of course, he won't be returning to compete tomorrow. His round unfolded just before he made the turn. Snedeker found water off the tee at the par-3 17th hole for the second straight day; today, however, he settled for a 5 instead of a 6. He then rinsed his approach at the par-4 18th and eventually three-putted for a triple bogey from 21'8". He'll try again at next week's Shell Houston Open. |

Brandt Snedeker settled for a 4-over-par 37-39=76 for his opening round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

In his first action since Pebble Beach due to a strained oblique muscle, Snedeker hit 10 greens in regulation. He was 1-over on the round until swallowing a triple bogey at the par-3 17th hole where he rinsed his tee ball and failed to find the putting surface with his third. He'd two-putt from just inside 10 feet before moving on. His only notable conversion of the round measured 11'6" for birdie at the 16th hole. |

As we relayed on March 1 when Sneds pulled out of the WGC-Match Play, he hoped to play at least once more before the Masters. A report at GolfChannel.com that same day circled Arnie's Invite on March 21-24 as the probably site. Today, an update at PGATOUR.com confirmed it and added the he's expected to compete in the Shell Houston Open the week after. "We're going to go to work and get back after it," said Snedeker's coach, Todd Anderson. "We'll just be real careful and make sure we don't go too fast. We'll spend a lot of time on short game and putting and by Sunday he should be hitting full shots." Snedeker sustained a rib injury the week of the Humana Challenge. |

Ferguson wrote: "For those thinking Sneds just didn't want to play Match Play ... he just withdrew from Doral to continue rehab on his ribs." Snedeker sets scoring record in Pebble win | 02/10/2013 7:21 PM
News
Brandt Snedeker cashed in on the trend his recent form suggested by winning the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in record-setting fashion over hard-charging Chris Kirk with a final-round 7-under-par 32-33=65.
PGATOUR.com
Impact
Snedeker was seemingly in control all day, but ended any drama when his tee shot on the par-3 17th settled 10'4" from the hole and was brushed in for his sixth birdie of the day. He started his round with four-foot eagle on the par-5 second hole and added birdies on the fourth, sixth and seventh holes. He would suffer an uncharacteristic 3-putt bogey on the par-4 ninth, but bounced back with an unlikely and lengthy birdie on the par-4 10th and added another at the par-4 11th. It would be pars the rest of the way, with the exception of the aforementioned birdie at 17. Having already finished runner-up twice and third once this year, his 19-under 66-68-68-65=267 allowed him not only to win, but to set the tournament scoring record in the process. It is worth noting that the previous record of 268 came on a rotation where all of the courses were par 72s. He will not try and go back-to-back later this week at the Northern Trust Open. |

Snedeker holds 54-hole lead at Pebble Beach | 02/09/2013 5:43 PM
News
Brandt Snedeker fired a 4-under-par 32-36=68 in the third round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am to snare the 54-hole lead at 12-under 202.
Rotoworld.com
Impact
Snedeker's action in the third round came at Pebble Beach Golf Links, and he was even through five holes. He finished out the front nine in style, circling four birdies on the closing four holes. He would give one back on the difficult par-4 10th, but immediately bounced back with a birdie on the 11th. That would be it for the drama, as he would finish his day with seven pars and missed out on several chances to extend his lead down the stretch. With two runner-up finishes already on the resume in 2013, the only thing missing is a win. He will have his best chance of the season to do that in Sunday's final round. |

Snedeker goes bogey-free; tied atop the AT&T | 02/08/2013 7:26 PM
News
Brandt Snedeker crafted a bogey-free, 4-under-par 34-34=68 at Spyglass Hill in his second round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am to reach the midpoint in 8-under 134, good for a share of the 36-hole clubhouse lead.
PGA TOUR Media on Twitter
Impact
There were reports that Sneds had four-putted the par-5 11th hole today, but that was incorrect due to a communication error. In fact, he carded a 5 on the hole. Meanwhile, he picked off four birdies, two of which on other par 5s. After his round today, the PGA TOUR's media page on Twitter posted the following: "Co-leader Brandt Snedeker to have ribs worked on after @attproam today. No word if same area that caused him to miss U.S. Open last year." The world's hottest golfer without a win this year will finish this week's rotation at Pebble Beach on Saturday. |

Ho-hum. It would have been newsworthy if he didn't rise into early contention. He signed his card sitting two strokes back of the overnight co-leaders. Sneds holed six birdies against a pair of late bogeys. He'll slide over to Spyglass Hill for his second round tomorrow. |

Impact
He did his best to chase down 54-hole leader Phil Mickelson, but could never quite reel in the 41-time PGA TOUR champion. Snedeker circled four birdies on his outward nine, but stalled for a little too long on the back. He didn't pick up his first birdie on the inward nine until the par-5 15th, and while he added two more on the following holes, his bogey at the 18th didn't even matter. His 24-under 260 total did boost him into first place in the FedExCup standings. He now heads to Pebble Beach to see if he can finish one spot higher on the next leaderboard. |

As you are aware, Snedeker has been a staple on virtually every 2013 leaderboard and this week at TPC Scottsdale is no different. His round included six birdies and 12 pars, narrowly missing a seventh on the 18th, and you have to look back to his 12th hole in the second round to find his most recent blemish. He enters the final round trailing only Phil Mickelson. Should Sneds finish second to Mickelson, the reigning FedExCup champ will sit atop the 2013 standings. |

Sneds' scorecard looks a lot better than his navigation of TPC Scottsdale today. He hit only 11 greens in regulation yet swallowed only one hole over par, that a double bogey at the par-3 12th hole where he failed to escape a greenside bunker in his first try and then two-putted. Meanwhile, he picked off seven birdies, four of which with traditional rolls from outside 14 feet, the longest measuring 19'2" at 2. He also turned a missed GIR into a zero-putt birdie at 3, rolling it in from five yards out. He's five strokes in arrears of the 36-hole lead. |

He remains virtually unstoppable. Snedeker hit 15 greens in regulation at TPC Scottsdale today and converted an eagle and seven birdies. His eagle dropped in from nine yards just off the green at the drivable par-4 17th hole. Elsewhere, he rolled in birdies from 22'8", 17 feet and 20'1" at 10, 5 and 7, respectively. While those four par breakers are impressive on their own, the highlight of the day was a 15-yard hole-out for birdie from the greenside rough in the left-front portion of the green at 12. |

Brandt Snedeker fired a 3-under-par 32-37=69 in the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open to claim the clubhouse lead at 10-under 278.

Impact
With Tiger Woods holding a commanding lead with almost the entire back nine to play, it's unlikely that Snedeker's score will factor into the decision. He spun a bogey-free 4-under going out and had a chance to take it deep on his inward nine, but stalled with two bogeys and a lone birdie to finish. He now moves on to the Waste Management Phoenix Open. That is assuming a collapse on the final hole doesn't once again land him in a playoff. |

Sneds opened with a 7-under 65 on the North Course to share the 18-hole lead with K.J. Choi, but quickly retreated with a second-round 75 on the South Course at Torrey Pines. His third round brings him back to even for his 36 holes on the South Course, but likely will have him well behind the eventual third-round leader. He circled five birdies and swallowed two bogeys in his round, and will take a quick break and get ready to start the final round momentarily. |

Snedeker hit only 11 greens today and managed only one birdie. That dropped in from 13'2" at the 10th hole. It was not enough to make up for consecutive three-putts at holes 6 and 7, the first of which started with a birdie attempt from 53 inches. While he converted a par save from 33'6" at the fourth hole, he logged four bogeys, including two on par 5s. He also fanned a birdie putt from seven inches at the par-5 18th. Sneds reached the midpoint in 4-under 140, seven strokes adrift of the 36-hole clubhouse lead. |

He has teed it up in each of the first three tournaments of the season. |

Sneds jumped out of the gates with a flash, getting his round to 5-under through six holes before stubbing his toe and finishing the outward nine with three bogeys. He would play the back nine in 2-under, but even without the blemishes his birdie binge still wouldn't have been enough to wrestle the title away from Dustin Johnson. Still, 2013 is off to a solid start for the 2012 FedExCup Champion and you can expect him to be a factor in many events. |

He enters the final round tied for fourth with Keegan Bradley, trailing Dustin Johnson by five storkes. His 11 birdies through two rounds have given him a chance to contend, but the five bogeys that have blemished his cards have kept him from gaining ground at a rapid pace. The defending FedExCup Champion will try and cut back on the errors and hole enough putts to start of 2013 with the bang that ended 2012. |

Snedeker had quite the colorful scorecard, circling six birdies and giving back three bogeys in his lap around the Plantation Course. In all, it puts him right in the thick of things. He trails 18-hole leaders Mark Wilson and Dustin Johnson by a stroke. With 18 more to play this afternoon, he still has a reasonable chance to sleep on the lead. |
