Kuchar rolled in seven birdies, the only notable of which dropping in from 15'3" at the par-4 10th hole where he began his round. He also poured in a par save from 12'11" at 14 to maintain momentum. The defending champ signed his card sitting four strokes back of the 36-hole clubhouse lead.

Kuchar split eight (of 14) fairways and hit 13 greens in regulation, but converted on only three of his chances. His longest measured 14'5" at the par-4 10th hole. He also missed three attempts inside 10 feet, two of which resulted in bogeys at 15 and 18. He's eight strokes adrift of the overnight lead.

He's made each of his 10 cuts this season, with seven going for top 25s, so there is every expectation that he will contend this week.

Kuchar quickly grabbed the attention of the patrons at Augusta National with a three birdies in his first eight holes. In that was a lengthy par save on the par-4 17th following an unimpressive pitch. He will now wait and see what the leaders do, as he tries to nab his first major championship in Sunday's finale.

Kuchar has enjoyed another strong start to his season, punctuating it with a victory at the WGC-Accenture Match Play. He posted a career-best T3 at last year's Masters, so expectations this week were very high. He's delivered early, hitting 14 greens and rolling in six birdies to erase two bogeys.

If you are looking for a guy that should finish the week safely inside the top 20, Kuchar may be your man. He's only played TPC San Antonio one time, leaving with a share of 13th last year. There's no doubt that his mind could wander towards next week's trip to Augusta National, but he is a known commodity in a field largely consisting of unknowns this week.

Matt Kuchar knocked off defending champion Hunter Mahan 2 and 1 in the championship match of the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship to nab his first WGC title.
After halving the first three holes, Kuchar went on a run where he won four holes in a five-hole span with two birdies and two pars. Mahan then won the 10th with a par and the par-5 11th with a birdie and looked like he was going to take the 12th with a tight approach to the par 3. It wasn't meant to be, as Kuchar rolled in a mid-range birdie on top of him to squelch the momentum. Kuchar took the 13th, but surrendered the 14th and 16th to significantly tighten the match. He then kept his streak alive of not having a match go to the 18th hole all week, making a birdie from a fairway bunker on the par-4 17th hole to close out Mahan. Not only was the win is his first WGC title, but it was also his fifth PGA TOUR victory.

Matt Kuchar had little trouble disposing of Jason Day 4 and 3 in the semifinals of the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship.
After the first few holes, the wind picked up and made Dove Mountain a beast of a course. Kuchar adjusted well and, with the exception of the par-4 10th hole when his drive was unplayable, he didn't give Day an inch. Day on the other hand, seemingly never was comfortable and failed to record a birdie on any hole. He also never looked comfortable with the flat stick. Kuchar now advances to face the winner of Hunter Mahan and Ian Poulter, where Mahan holds a large advantage.

Matt Kuchar squared off against Robert Garrigus in the quarterfinals of the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play and bested the bomber 3 and 2 to win the Hogan Bracket.
Kuchar had control of the match from the start, winning the first hole and never trailing. That may have been the key, as Garrigus had never trailed this week until Kuchar put him down. After taking a 4-up lead, Kuchar had a chance to step on Garrigus' throat on the par-5 11th after the bomber hit his second shot out of bounds, but Kuchar stubbed his toe and halved with bogey. He then dropped the next two, shrinking his lead to two and giving Garrigus life. After winning the par-4 15th, Kuchar slammed the door with a par on the 16th hole. He awaits the winner of the match featuring Jason Day and Graeme McDowell.

Matt Kuchar dominated Nicolas Colsaerts 4 and 3 in the third round of the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship and will face Robert Garrigus in the quarterfinals.
Playing in the Hogan Bracket, Kuchar never gave the Belgian Bomber an inch. There were multiple times in the match where it looked like Colsaerts had a gleam of hope, but Kuchar continued to pour in birdie putts and par saves at the appropriate moments. Kuchar was 4 up through eight holes and essentially held on the rest of the way.

Matt Kuchar recorded a 2-and-1 victory over Sergio Garcia in the Hogan Bracket in the second round of the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship.
While Garcia never held the lead, this match was tight through 13 holes after which they were all square. Kuchar then went birdie-birdie-par-birdie to pick up wins at 14 and 17 where the match ended. This is the third consecutive year that he's advanced to the third round. He'll face Nicolas Colsaerts on Saturday morning.

Matt Kuchar recorded a 3-and-2 victory over Hiroyuki Fujita in the opening round of the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship.
After opening pars early on Wednesday, the duo traded wins through the fifth hole. Kuchar then won five of the next seven unanswered to build a 4-up lead after 11. Fujita picked up a couple of wins with pars but Kuchar offset one of those with a birdie-4 at 13. They'd eventually halve the 16th with pars to end it after today's restart. In the second round, Kuchar will face the winner of Sergio Garcia v. Thongchai Jaidee.

Overnight leader Matt Kuchar chased his opening 64 at the Northern Trust Open with a 2-over-par 39-34=73 to reach the halfway mark of the tournament in 5-under 137, four strokes back of the 36-hole lead.
His opening hole set the tone for the day. After driving into a fairway bunker at the par-4 10th hole, he'd hit his next three shots from the sand, ultimately swallowing a double bogey. After a relative kick-in birdie at 11, he went on to double bogey the par-4 15th hole. A par attempt that dropped in from 14'10" at 16 helped avoid another bogey. He's also poured in a par save from 11'3" at 6. Kuchar's only notable par breaker was a zero-putt birdie from eight yards away at the eighth hole.

Matt Kuchar crafted a bogey-free, 7-under-par 31-33=64 in his opening round of the Northern Trust Open to snag outright possession of the clubhouse lead.
Kuchar hit 15 greens and holed seven birdies, six of which from inside four feet! The other birdie measured just 7'5" at the 16th hole. His longest conversion of the round was a par attempt that dropped in from 10'1" at 8. Today's score is a personal best in 29 career competitive rounds at Riviera Country Club. It's two strokes better than his previous low.

Matt Kuchar plays the Northern Trust Open having already racked up three top 10s to start the year.
Kuchar is batting a thousand, notching top 25s in each of his three starts with the first two being top 10s. It's been a lengthy layoff for the veteran. After playing the first three events, he sat out Torrey Pines, TPC Scotsdale and Pebble Beach. He's made each of his seven cuts in this event, including three top 25s, but doesn't own a top 10. All of that points to a good week, but it's hard to forecast anything spectacular for the steady hand at the wheel.

Matt Kuchar waited until Sunday to post his best round of the week at the Humana Challenge, that being a 7-under-par 32-33=65.
Kuchar was perfect through 12 holes, with four birdies and an eagle from 51'1" on the par-5 11th. He surrendered his lone bogey on the par-4 13th, but bounced back to pick up two more birdies coming to the house. He ends the week at 20-under 268. After playing each of the first three weeks, he will take a breather and skip the Farmers Insurance Open.

Matt Kuchar fired a bogey-free 5-under-par 32-33=65 in the final round of the Sony Open to end the week at 16-under 264.
Kuchar minimized mistakes all week, making just three bogeys in his navigation of Waialae Country Club. His ability to scramble out of trouble was elite, getting up-and-down 88.46 percent of the time. Of his five birdies in the finale, only one was longer than seven feet, and that was his 20'9" roll on the first. This will be his second top 10 in as many weeks, and he goes for three in a row at the Humana Challenge.

Matt Kuchar had footprints on his back in the third round of the Sony Open, limping to the clubhouse with an even-par 35-35=70.
While most of the field was going low for a third time this week, Kuchar saw each of his two birdies erased with bogeys. He barely hung on to his spot inside the top 10, entering the final round at 11-under 199.

Kuchar hit only 11 greens in regulation today but got up and down every time to retain a spotless scorecard. His notable conversions included a par save from 13'9" at the first holes, respective birdie conversions from 15'11" and 24'10" at 8 and 11, and an eagle from 16'9" at the par-5 18th. He's 11-under 129 at the midpoint, three strokes off the 36-hole clubhouse lead.

Kuchar is making his 10th appearance at Waialae. He's cashed in just three of them but two went for top fives, including last year's T5. Today's latest impressive effort including five birdies, including conversions of 10'6", 16'10" and 16'3" at the 10th, fourth and sixth holes, respectively. He also poured in a par save from 14'3" at the second.

Matt Kuchar entered the Hyundai Tournament of Champions as one of the favorites to contend for the title, but settled for a back-door top 10 thanks to a 4-under-par 37-32=69 in the finale.
Kuchar feasted on the back nine in the last two rounds, playing it in 11-under. With the exception of circling birdies on the par-5 ninth in each of his three rounds, the front nine ate him alive. He was without a birdie on the first eight holes, squaring seven bogeys. In all, it added up to a 5-under 214. He is now scheduled to head to the Sony Open and hopes to get the early-round jitters solved.

For the second consecutive day, the opening round of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions has been delayed by one hour.
Matt Kuchar and Webb Simpson were scheduled to go off the 10th tee at 7:10 a.m. local time. Three one-hour delays occurred on Saturday before the entire day was scrapped, resulting in the decision to reduce the tournament to 54 holes. Thirty-six holes were planned for today. Stay tuned.

Matt Kuchar captured THE PLAYERS Championship in 2012 and one of the many perks that come with that title is a trip to the Hyundai Tournament of Champions at Kapalua.
Kuchar has enjoyed his share of success in three previous trips to the Plantation Course with a tie for sixth and a third on his ledger. The only man in the field that can claim a better record is the defending champion, Steve Stricker. Don't be surprised to see Kuchar in contention this week. He should be under consideration in almost any gaming format.
