Stuart Appleby turned in a 3-under-par 37-31=68 for his second round of the RBC Heritage to reach the halfway point in 4-under 138, two strokes off the pace of the threesome in the clubhouse with the 36-hole lead.
Appleby entered the week with five paydays in nine starts, but hasn't posted a top 45 since last fall, so this is relatively foreign territory. All five of his birdies in today's round fell in on his second nine (Harbour Town's front). The most notable of the lot was a zero-putt 11-yarder at the par-4 eighth hole.

Stuart Appleby has been granted a sponsor exemption into the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
The Aussie is a regular in this event, having played it 16 times dating back to 1996. He's twice been a runner-up at Bay Hill, but not since 2004. In the last few years Appleby's game has been a shell of what it was almost a decade ago when he last finished second here, so course history is not as relevant here as his current form. That form has him making four of six cuts this year, but unable to find his way inside the top 60.

Stuart Appleby will play the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am for the sixth time in his lengthy PGA TOUR career.
Appleby has played two events to date, missing a cut at Torrey Pines and sharing 65th at the Humana Challenge. He's cracked the top 50 at Pebble Beach just one time, but it was recently. He tied for 15th in 2011. The Aussie has been hard to get behind the last few years and there appear to be much safer options for gamers to invest in this time around.
