Prince Fielder went 0-for-4 on Wednesday and is without a homer since June 4.
Fielder has been hitting for average of late, but except for a three-game surge at the beginning of the month, the power hasn't been there. He has a total of five homers and 27 RBI in 44 games since May 1 after totaling seven homers and 27 RBI in 25 games in April. Fortunately, since he's hitting behind Miguel Cabrera, he's still driving in runs with singles and doubles.

Rick Porcello and Scott Diamond were engaged in a scoreless pitcher's duel heading into the sixth inning, where Fielder's two-run double broke the game open and provided more than enough support for the Tigers. He's having another excellent season, hitting .289/.390/.536 with 12 homers and 52 RBI.

It was only Fielder's second hit-less game in June after a subpar May. The slugger is batting .284/.388/.500 with 12 homers and 51 RBI (third in the AL) over 236 at-bats.

Fielder hasn't hit a home run since May 10 and is batting just .235/.380/.383 this month. He's seeing the ball fine and drawing plenty of walks. The power will return. Cecil's son is scuffling a bit and being overshadowed by demigod Miguel Cabrera. If someone is dumb enough to sell low on Prince, be smart enough to buy.

Over 13 games this month, the mammoth slugger has posted a pedestrian (for him, at least) .229/.383/.417 triple slash. With 11 of those games against the Astros, Twins and Indians, Fielder owners were surely looking for more fantasy production. Since posting a 1.009 OPS in the season's opening month, pitchers are tap dancing around Fielder, walking him 13 times (including three HBPs and one IBB) in 60 May plate appearances. He leads the American League in walks and times on base.

Fielder singled in the first inning and launched a two-run shot in the fifth, finishing the night 2-for-4 with two RBI. Miguel Cabrera and Alex Avila also homered in the game. Fielder owns an exceptional .301/.417/.591 batting line and 27 RBI in 25 games this season. He should be in the MVP running when all is said and done.

Fielder was held in check for most of the game, but hit a three-run shot in the seventh inning off reliever Cory Gearrin. After playing Saturday's game at DH, Fielder was back in the lineup at first base. He's now batting .294/.421/.541 with 26 RBI and a .962 OPS in 23 games this season.

The Tigers are just looking to lessen the workload on Fielder, who's started all 21 games this season. Victor Martinez will replace him at first base.

Fielder was hitting just .160 with no home runs over his last seven games, so it's a much needed breakout. Despite the massive slump, Fielder still ranks sixth in the American League in slugging-percentage. His 21 walks are behind only Albert Pujols.

Talk about running hot and cold; Fielder went from driving in 19 runs in 11 games to going 0-for-11 with nine strikeouts the last two days. He had struck out a total of seven times in his first 11 games.

Prince Fielder went 4-for-5 with a three-run homer and a double against the A's on Saturday.
Fielder has been swinging the bat awfully well since the final few days of the spring. His homer drove in all of Detroit's run tonight and gave him 17 RBI in 10 games. Now if only someone could drive him in; excluding his homers, he's scored just three times this year. That was a problem throughout last year, too.

Fielder went the first 27 days of March without a homer after hitting two in five games in February. In addition to his two-run shot off Jeremy Hellickson today, he delivered a sac fly. He's hitting .305 with 18 RBI in 59 at-bats.

Fielder hit a two-run homer off Brandon Morrow in the first, and Cabrera added a solo shot off Steve Delabar in the third.
