NewsAnibal Sanchez was rocked for six runs -- five earned -- in 2 2/3 innings Saturday in a loss to the Rangers.
ImpactIt was a rare off outing for the right-hander, who had been ace-like all season. He coughed up nine hits and issued two walks, and the dangerous Texas offense was able to turn scoring chances into runs. Sanchez still has a 2.77 ERA and 1.23 WHIP on the year and should bounce back next week against the light-hitting Twins.

ImpactSanchez still hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of his eight starts this season. Unfortunately, his run support hasn't been nearly so consistent. Tonight's game was the fourth in which the Tigers have scored seven or more runs in his outings. Of course, Sanchez has gotten wins in all of those. On the other hand, the Tigers have scored a total of six runs in his other four starts, resulting in three losses and a no-decision for the right-hander.

His next start comes Monday against the Astros, another favorable matchup for Sanchez.

He took a one-hopper off his right forearm late in the outing, but felt well enough to continue after testing himself with a warm-up pitch. He'll face a tough test next Friday in an interleague matchup against the homer-happy Braves.
