Drafted:Drafted by Chicago in 2004 (1/3).
Acquired:Acquired in a trade with Detroit in 2012.
|Assets:||A fantastic pure scorer who can hit from well beyond the 3-point arc. A great athlete who can leap over defenders. Does a good job of keeping defenses guessing by driving to the hoop and drawing fouls. A top-tier free-throw shooter.|
|Flaws:||Streaky. Settles for far too many low-percentage outside shots. A shooting guard in a point guard's body. Not much of a passer and not nearly the defender he could be.|
|Career Potential:||Star scoring combo guard.|

Ben Gordon not planning to opt out of deal | 04/18/2013 12:18 PM
NewsBen Gordon, who has a player option for $13.2 million on his contract next season, said that he anticipates returning to the Bobcats.
Rick Bonnell on Twitter
ImpactWhy wouldn't he? Gordon won't sniff more than $10M annually as a free agent, and there is zero incentive for him to give up that kind of guaranteed cash despite the reported clashes he's had with head coach Mike Dunlap this season. There is also a possibility his expiring contract is dealt before the season begins. It's good work if you can get it.
Ben Gordon disappears in loss to Grizzlies | 04/10/2013 12:02 AM
NewsBen Gordon, who blew up for 27 points and six treys in his previous game, played just 16 minutes and missed all four of his shots to finish with three points in Tuesday's loss.
ImpactHis 27-point explosion came out of nowhere, so it was not all that surprising to see him disappear tonight. The Cats should really be running their young guys as much as possible from here on out, and while it's possible he could have another explosion, it appears to be unlikely.
Ben Gordon drops 27 pts on unsuspecting Nets | 04/06/2013 11:16 PM
NewsOut of nowhere, Ben Gordon scored 27 points with six 3-pointers, two rebounds and two assists vs. the Nets on Saturday, playing 28 minutes off the bench.
ImpactGordon was scoreless in his last game and he hasn't cracked 20 points since early January, and the Nets give up the sixth-fewest 3-pointers of any team in the NBA, so all you can call this is a 'fluke'. Pick him up at your own peril.
Ben Gordon shoots 0-of-7 in loss to Miami | 03/24/2013 8:43 PM
NewsBen Gordon missed all seven of his shots in 16 minutes vs. the Heat, going scoreless with zero assists.
ImpactRamon Sessions is still out with a sprained knee, but tonight's line underscores the risk of deploying Gordon in fantasy leagues. Don't bother with him unless his averages in March appeal to you -- 11.0 points on 38.2 percent shooting, 1.7 threes, 1.5 assists, 0.4 steals and 1.8 turnovers per game.
Gordon scores 10 points on 4-of-16 FGs | 03/15/2013 10:02 PM
NewsBen Gordon hit just 4-of-16 shots on Friday, scoring 10 points with two rebounds, two assists and two threes in 26 minutes off the bench.
ImpactGordon is getting looks right now but he's still not converting, coming off a bad 5-of-13 shooting night on Tuesday, as well. Owners looking at his short-term value while Ramon Sessions is out should keep his game log open on their computer the next time he gets hot and hits a bunch of threes.
Ben Gordon stays hot in win over Boston | 03/12/2013 10:48 PM
NewsBen Gordon hit 5-of-13 shots and three 3-pointers for 17 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals in Tuesday's shockingly easy win over the Celtics.
ImpactGordon is hot and should continue to roll with Ramon Sessions' season in jeopardy. This was his fifth straight game of at least 13 points and he's hit a 3-pointer in seven straight games, making him worth a look in most leagues now that he's no longer in Mike Dunlap's doghouse.
Ben Gordon takes 18 shots vs. OKC Friday | 03/08/2013 9:33 PM
NewsBen Gordon shot 7-of-18 from the field for 19 points with four boards, three assists and three 3-pointers in 28 minutes.
ImpactThe 18 shots are enough to garner our attention and he's in line for some consistent playing time with Ramon Sessions out for a month. Gordon is worth a look for any owner that needs threes.
Ben Gordon scores 16 in another loss | 03/06/2013 10:09 PM
NewsBen Gordon scored 16 points with two 3-pointers on 6-of-15 shooting in 26 minutes of Tuesday's blowout loss to the Nets.
ImpactGordon hadn't played more than 17 minutes in any of his previous 10 games and while it's interesting that Mike Dunlap chose to use him tonight, don't get used to him seeing this kind of run. The Bobcats are getting crushed on a nightly basis and it's time to turn the young guys loose, meaning tonight's game looks like a fluke for Gordon.
Ben Gordon scoreless in return to rotation | 02/23/2013 11:04 PM
NewsBen Gordon returned to the Bobcats' rotation in Sunday's defeat, finishing scoreless in 12 minutes off the bench.
ImpactGordon has been clashing with Mike Dunlap, and as a result he received a DNP-CD on Friday. BG is easily the Cats' highest-paid player ($12.4 million) and there is zero doubt that he'll opt-in for $13.2 million next season. He can no longer agitate for an immediate trade, and sulking won't improve his trade value over the summer, so ideally he'll mute his frustrations and play well in a 15-20 minute role for the next two months.
Ben Gordon sits out first game after deadline | 02/23/2013 11:43 AM
NewsBen Gordon received a DNP-CD in the Bobcats' first game following the trade deadline.
ImpactGordon was never suspended after a reported run-in at practice with coach Mike Dunlap because the Bobcats reportedly wanted to preserve his trade value. Since they were unable to move Gordon before Thursday's deadline, it appears the Bobcats chose Friday to send a message to the disgruntled guard.
Brooklyn Nets not going after Ben Gordon | 02/21/2013 12:58 AM
NewsThe Nets are no longer considering a deal for Charlotte's Ben Gordon in exchange for Kris Humphries.
Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter
ImpactThis report comes from multiple sources and some of the reports are of the emphatic fashion. The Nets are clearly trying to make a move tomorrow, but it won't be for Ben Gordon.
Report: Gordon, Dunlap had other run-ins | 02/15/2013 11:58 AM
NewsAccording to the Charlotte Observer, Ben Gordon and coach Mike Dunlap have had issues prior to Monday's reported showdown during a shootaround.
ImpactAccording to the Observer, when pulled from a game in January by Dunlap, Gordon lingered on the court and was visibly frustrated. Gordon also met twice with Dunlap regarding the guard's limited role on the Bobcats. Despite an obvious desire to move the disgruntled Gordon, we can't imagine this will help his trade value.
Report: Ben Gordon, Mike Dunlap have exchange | 02/14/2013 1:32 PM
NewsBen Gordon reportedly told Mike Dunlap that he needed to "humble himself," and the Bobcats are now expediting their efforts to trade Gordon before the deadline, sources told Yahoo! Sports.
ImpactWow. Last season it was Tyrus Thomas who got into a spat with Paul Silas, and now Gordon isn't getting along with Dunlap. The team did not suspend Gordon because they didn't want to weaken his perceived trade value, but it's pretty weak as it is. The Nets, a team with rumored interest in Gordon, are reportedly "still mulling" an offer of Kris Humphries for Gordon, but don't appear inclined to make a move.
Ben Gordon puts up 18 in loss at Chicago | 01/29/2013 12:17 AM
NewsBen Gordon scored 18 points in Monday's loss to the Bulls with three rebounds and four 3-pointers in 28 minutes.
ImpactHe certainly wanted to stick it to his former team and he wasn't bashful about taking contested jumpers. Since Gordon's goose egg on January 21, he's averaged 17.0 points with 2.3 triples. The inconsistencies will be a pain, but he's worth a look for owners needing some scoring and treys.
Ben Gordon scores 18 off Cats bench | 01/27/2013 12:09 AM
NewsBen Gordon came off the bench for 18 points, two rebounds, two assists, a steal and two blocks on 7-of-13 shooting in 30 minutes of Saturday's win.
ImpactHe didn't hit a 3-pointer, but appears to be heating up again. He's scored between 12 and 18 points in three of his last four games, but it's important to note that Kemba Walker, Ramon Sessions and Gerald Henderson also played well tonight. Just keep an eye on Gordon.
Ben Gordon scoreless in eight minutes | 01/21/2013 5:59 PM
NewsBen Gordon went scoreless in just eight minutes of action on Monday, missing all four of his field goals.
ImpactThe Bobcats are 0-7 when Gordon scores 20+ points and most of his scoring outbursts are the result of a conscious effort to erase large deficits, but today Charlotte hung with Houston until the bitter end. BG should bounce back in the coming week, but this game should be more than enough reason to avoid him.
Gordon scores six points vs. Magic | 01/19/2013 12:18 AM
NewsBen Gordon scored six points on 2-of-5 shooting with two rebounds and two assists in 15 minutes on Friday.
ImpactGordon has gone cold and though Gerald Henderson is dealing with a back issue, we'd recommend that owners make him prove himself before considering an add.
Ben Gordon disappears in ugly loss to Pacers | 01/15/2013 11:40 PM
NewsBen Gordon hit just 3-of-9 shots in 14 minutes on Tuesday, finishing with seven points and zero 3-pointers in a loss.
ImpactGordon was pretty hot coming in, scoring in double figures in 10 straight games, including topping the 20-point mark in three of his previous six games. This game was never really close, and we wouldn't be surprised to see him bounce back in the next one.
Ben Gordon still playing solid minutes | 01/14/2013 11:28 PM
NewsBen Gordon shot 5-of-14 from the field for 12 points to go with two rebounds, one assist and one 3-pointer in 30 minutes against the Celtics on Monday.
ImpactWhile the stat line isn't spectacular, the 30 minutes and 14 shot attempts bode well for his value. Gordon played 25 minutes per game in his last 11 games and his minutes are trending upward, too. He has double-digit shot attempts in 10 consecutive games and is worth owning in standard leagues.
Ben Gordon scores team-high 21 points | 01/12/2013 10:31 PM
NewsBen Gordon scored a team-high 21 points off the Bobcats' bench on Saturday, hitting 9-of-14 FGs with three rebounds in just 26 minutes.
ImpactThe Bobcats boast the league's highest scoring backcourt (51.2 ppg) and they're third in bench scoring (40.9 ppg) thanks to the explosive duo of Ramon Sessions (seven points, six assists) and Ben Gordon. Unfortunately, they're dead last in frontcourt scoring (44.5 ppg) and points allowed (103.9 ppg), which accounts for their lousy record. Gordon remains a streaky source of points and treys.
Ben Gordon scores 12 points in 26 minutes | 01/11/2013 10:58 PM
NewsBen Gordon scored 12 points off the bench in a 99-77 loss to the Raptors on Friday, adding two rebounds, two assists and one steal in 26 minutes.
ImpactHis minutes have surprisingly held steady lately off the bench. Gordon played in at least 24 minutes and no more than 29 minutes in his last five games. He averaged 18.4 points and made 1.5 triples over that span, which makes him someone that's worth owning in standard leagues.
Ben Gordon goes for 20 points, two 3-pointers | 01/10/2013 12:08 AM
NewsBen Gordon came off the bench for 20 points, three assists, a steal and two 3-pointers on 8-of-16 shooting in 25 minutes on Wednesday.
ImpactGordon is hot, averaging 18.8 points, 3.4 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 3-pointers over his last five games, and looks like a must-own player for as long as he can stay hot.
Ben Gordon scores 18 points in road win | 01/07/2013 12:05 AM
NewsBen Gordon scored 18 points in his first game in Detoit since leaving the Pistons, knocking down 7-of-12 FGs, including two 3-pointers, though he missed a potential game-winner at the end of regulation.
ImpactGordon's three years with the Pistons were dismal, and they ultimately traded him in a salary dump for Corey Maggette. He's averaging 13.4 points in a reliable bench role for Charlotte, however, and coach Mike Dunlap said recently, "[Gordon] has lived up to his billing ... We certainly need his scoring and he has the view of a veteran." He's a viable low-end fantasy SG thanks to 13.5 points, 1.7 threes, 2.4 assists and 0.7 steals per game.
Ben Gordon scores 27 on Friday | 01/05/2013 12:30 AM
NewsBen Gordon scored 27 points in 28 minutes against the Cavs on Friday, adding two rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block and two 3-pointers.
ImpactBen has slowly warmed up with his points rising in each of the last four games. He's taken 13.8 shots per game and scored 16.5 points over that span, but we still wouldn't call him reliable for his propensity to completely fall off from time to time. If you have someone you have no problem cutting and need scoring, then give Ben a look in some standard formats.
