San Antonio Spurs
Drafted:Drafted by Detroit in 2009 (1/15).
Acquired:Acquired in a trade with Toronto in 2014.
|Assets:||Very skilled and nimble for a near-7-footer. Has a scorer's mentality, and uses his great length to shoot over opponents. Has the hands to shoot and pass like a guard, and can hit the 3-pointer. Shows nice fluidity, mobility, and court savvy. Capable of playing several NBA positions.|
|Flaws:||Significantly lacks strength and muscle mass, which limits him as a rebounder and gets him targeted by opponents on 'D' at times. Doesn't take enough high-percentage shots. Requires a lot of bulking up to deal with the NBA grind and pounding.|
|Career Potential:||Talented but inconsistent small forward with starter upside.|

NewsThe Spurs are not expected to waive forward Austin Daye.
Marc Spears on Twitter
ImpactDaye has gotten way more pub than his production deserves, but theoretically sticking around San Antonio is a good thing for his long-term outlook. He's still way off the fantasy radar.
Austin Daye starts on Friday night | 04/12/2014 1:52 AM
NewsAustin Daye started for Tim Duncan on Friday night and had two points, one rebound, one assist, two steals and one block in 14 minutes.
ImpactCoach Gregg Popovich has transformed a lot of players, but he couldn't get it done with Daye. He has a lot of potential to put up big lines, but he's rarely been able to come through for fantasy owners since his days with the Pistons. He can be ignored in all leagues.
Austin Daye will start in place of Tim Duncan | 04/11/2014 8:00 PM
NewsAustin Daye will start in place of Tim Duncan on Friday night vs. the Suns.
Paul Coro on Twitter
ImpactIt makes sense because Channing Frye is not exactly an imposing threat in the paint, so this isn't really coach Gregg Popovich being a mad scientist. Daye has been quiet all season with the exception of a big game vs. Philly, so it would take a big slice of crazy to start him in fantasy leagues.
Austin Daye returns from strep throat Sunday | 04/07/2014 9:27 AM
NewsAustin Daye returned from both a lat strain and strep throat in Sunday's win vs. the Grizzlies, scoring two points in six minutes off the bench.
San Antonio Express-News
ImpactDaye made 1-of-6 shots and he played the fewest minutes of the 13 Spurs who were in Gregg Popovich's rotation. The 6'11" small forward has had a pair of nice games since being traded to San Antonio but he shouldn't be owned in any fantasy leagues.
Austin Daye out with lat strain for Wednesday | 04/02/2014 3:20 PM
NewsAustin Daye (lat strain) will not play against the Warriors on Wednesday.
Jeff McDonald on Twitter
ImpactHe had a big game back on Mar. 22 when the Spurs rested Danny Green, but he's been quiet since. Daye can be left on the wire in all leagues and the severity of his injury is not yet known.
Austin Daye has season-high 22 points | 03/25/2014 1:43 AM
NewsAustin Daye scored a season-high 22 points vs. the Sixers on Monday with six boards, one assist, two steals, two blocks and six 3-pointers in 29 minutes.
ImpactThis might be a new low for the Sixers as Daye matched the second-highest scoring output of his career. Daye scored just 14 points this entire season, so this has fluke written all over it. We've talked about him for years as a guy with a high ceiling, but there's no way fantasy owners can use him unless they know Danny Green is going to sit out.
Austin Daye scores first points for Spurs | 03/08/2014 9:48 AM
NewsAustin Daye knocked down a pair of 3-pointers at the end of Thursday's win vs. the Heat, marking his first points scored with the Spurs.
San Antonio Express-News
ImpactHe came in for a few minutes during garbage time and won't have a significant spot in the rotation unless injuries hit hard. "I'm just happy to be here, honestly," Daye said. "I think it's a place I can grow and develop as a player." The fifth-year forward has a career 40.9 percent shooting average and he's unlikely to ever surface as a reliable fantasy option.
Austin Daye traded to Spurs at deadline | 02/20/2014 3:22 PM
NewsRaptors traded Austin Daye to the Spurs for Nando De Colo.
Austin Daye scores 14 points in the preseason | 10/23/2013 10:47 PM
NewsAustin Daye hit three 3-pointers on his way to 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting to go with three boards in 12 minutes on Wednesday.
ImpactHe's been a preseason start in previous years, but has yet to string together anything noteworthy is a long time. Daye isn't worth drafting in any league.
Austin Daye agrees to sign with Toronto | 07/30/2013 7:37 PM
NewsReserve forward Austin Daye has agreed to a two-year contract with the Raptors, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter
ImpactDaye has skills and typically shows them off in the preseason and training camp. However, he's had trouble putting it all together when it counts, and playing behind guys like Rudy Gay and DeMar DeRozan isn't going to help his cause this season.
Grizzzlies make Austin Daye a UFA Monday | 07/01/2013 12:59 PM
NewsThe Grizzlies did not send a qualifying offer to Austin Daye, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Chris Herrington on Twitter
ImpactDaye was a throw-in player for the Tayshaun Prince deal. He played 12.3 minutes per game with the Grizzlies last regular season, scoring just 4.5 points per game. Daye is a summer-league superstar, but has yet to get his game in gear when it counts.
Austin Daye deactivated for Grizzlies | 05/26/2013 9:27 AM
NewsAustin Daye was deactivated for the Grizzlies on Saturday, replaced in the active lineup by Donte Greene.
ImpactDaye has played a negligible role during the playoffs and his absence would only have been noticed by the most observant Grizzlies' fans. Greene didn't set foot on the court, for what it's worth, and neither guy is likely to play when Memphis tries to stave off elimination on Monday.
Austin Daye happy with trade to Grizzlies | 02/20/2013 10:23 AM
NewsAustin Daye is happy with the Grizzlies and said that Lionel Hollins gives him "great insight" and "confidence."
Detroit Free Press
ImpactDaye was a total afterthought with the Pistons, so it's not a surprise to see him embrace new scenery. Set for free agency at the end of the season, Daye is not certain to return to Memphis.
| 02/02/2013 2:53 AM
NewsAustin Daye returned to action on Friday February 1.
Austin Daye will not be available Thursday | 01/31/2013 1:59 PM
NewsAustin Daye is not expected to play on Thursday, but should be available for the Grizzlies on Friday.
Steve Alexander on Twitter
ImpactDaye, like Tayshaun Prince and Ed Davis, are expected to make their Grizzlies debut on Friday. Daye has real sleeper appeal with no clear starter at small forward in Memphis, and he's shown an ability to contribute in multiple categories when given the opportunity.
Austin Daye could get new life in Memphis | 01/30/2013 7:54 PM
NewsG/F Austin Daye will reportedly be traded to the Grizzlies, along with Tayshaun Prince, in exchange for Jose Calderon.
ImpactPrince looks like the starter for the new starting small forward for the Grizzlies after the Rudy Gay trade, but it's possible Daye could see new life now that he's out of Detroit, where he never seemed to really get a fair shake. He's put up some incredible numbers in Summer League games and the preseason, but has never really gotten a chance to show his skills on a full-time basis. There's a decent chance the same will be true in Memphis, but he's at least worth keeping an eye on for his new team.
Austin Daye scoreless in 11 minutes | 01/07/2013 12:01 AM
NewsAustin Daye went scoreless in 11 minutes during Sunday's OT loss, just one game after he scored a season-high 20 points.
ImpactHe's been averaging around 20 minutes over the past two weeks, but his role won't increase as long as Tayshaun Prince is healthy.
Austin Daye goes off for 20 points | 01/05/2013 2:24 AM
NewsAustin Daye was hot in Friday's win over the Hawks, shooting 9-of-11 from the field for 20 points with six rebounds, one assist and two 3-pointers in 22 minutes.
ImpactHe's creeping on the radar in deeper leagues with 23.5 minutes per game in his last six games. The Pistons have won five of their last six games, so that certainly won't hurt Daye's chances to earn playing time. He's worth a look for owners that are holding a player that has lost his luster.
Austin Daye scores 13 off Pistons bench | 01/01/2013 11:47 PM
NewsAustin Daye had 13 points, two rebounds, two assists and two 3-pointers in 21 minutes off the Pistons bench on Tuesday.
ImpactDaye is suddenly in the Pistons' rotation and is averaging 8.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.8 3-pointers over his last five, making him worth a look in deep leagues.
