The oldest of the four major championships in professional golf, the 143rd edition of The Open Championship -- also known as the British Open, or just The Open -- is held at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club this year, with veteran Phil Mickelson holding the title of defending champion.
Played annually just before the British Open, the John Deere Classic is on from July 7-13 at the TPC Deere Run in Silvis. One year earlier, the fans of the event witnessed Jordan Spieth, two weeks shy of his 20th birthday, become the first teenager to win on the PGA Tour since 1931.
One of the events that guarantees entry into the 2014 Open Championship for four non-exempt players, the Greenbrier Classic is played on The Old White TPC in White Sulphur Springs. Winner by two strokes over four players last year, it marked Jonas Blixt’s second title on the PGA Tour.
