The game, of course, was Suter's first in Nashville since signing a free agent deal with Minnesota last summer. The Predators fans were devoted to the cause, booing Suter each time he touched the puck, even in cases where he was touching it up for an icing call. In the end, Suter and the Wild had the last laugh, as the blue liner picked up an assist in 28:59 of ice time in the victory.

He's playing in all facets of the game and averages over 27 minutes of ice-time. Hopefully the goal will spark some more offensive production. Nonetheless, he remains a solid fantasy blueline option going forward.

Minnesota GM Chuck Fletcher is happy with his signings of UFA's Ryan Suter and Zach Parise.
The Wild will dole out $98 million over 13 years to each of the two players but Fletcher is still thrilled with his off-season moves."Their work ethic is so strong, they're going to earn every penny we pay them. They both just turned 28, so we're pretty comfortable with that," Fletcher said recently. "They've played well and I think they'll only play better as they continue to acclimate and adjust to their new teammates and coaches and the system we play." Suter is a minus-five but has 14 assists this season and is one of the reasons the Wild are allowing four less shots per game on average than they did in 2011-12.

What's important is that his game has been getting better every game. And what's important is what he adds to our team." For poolies, Suter has three assists and is minus-five in five games.

Defenseman Ryan Suter is having a tough start with the Wild after signing for megabucks as a free agent with Minnesota.
Sutter has been on the ice for eight of the 10 goals surrendered so far by the Wild. He was on for three of the Red Wings' five goals in the Wild's 5-3 loss in Detroit Friday night. "He played hard minutes, it was extremely difficult," Wild coach Mike Yeo said. "You're looking at the goals, I mean which one can you fault him on? I think it's a matter of circumstance more than anything else. It's unfortunate. He's been on the ice for goals, but he's been on the ice a lot." It doesn't sound like Ryan Suter considered his first match against the Nashville Predators to be a particularly special event.
"For me it wasn't that big of a deal," Suter said. "Obviously the media makes it more than it is. I still have friends over there, but I still have friends on a lot of teams, and you have to go out and play hard against them. Unfortunately, they were the better team tonight." Nashville earned a 3-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild. Suter is still searching for his first point in a Wild uniform.

Suter spent his entire career with Nashville before becoming an unrestricted free agent on July 1. He signed a 13-year contract with the Wild worth $98 million. Both he and Zach Parise decided they wanted to play together so they signed on with Minnesota which is Parise's home state and close by Suter's who is from Wisconsin. "It was a big thing for Zach and me that we decided to do this together," Suter said. "I think he's one of the most underrated players in the league. I always get into battles debating people. They say, 'Who do you think is the best?' I'd always say him, and I'd be given the hardest time for it.

The schedule isn't set in stone yet, so take that with a grain of salt. Still, Suter's return to Nashville will make for one of the more interesting single-game story lines this season, provided that an injury doesn't rob him of the opportunity.
