Zach Parise finished Minnesota's playoff run with just one goal and a minus-seven rating in five games.
Parise signed a massive contract with the Wild over the summer and it's hard to regard his first season as a success. It wasn't a disaster either though, as he did end up with 18 goals and 38 points in 48 games. Look for him to push at the 70-point mark in 2013-14.

That's not exactly the kind of numbers you want out of one of your best players and major summer acquisition, but Kyle Brodziak attempted to take the pressure off of Parise. They'll probably need both their depth players and stars playing better if they want to overcome their 3-1 series deficit.

Perhaps Parise and the Wild will be able to get some offensive momentum going behind a home crowd Sunday. If they don't, it'll likely be a quick series.

Forward Zach Parise missed the Wild's practice because of illness on Friday but is expected to be ready to play when Minnesota meets the Nashville Predators tonight in St. Paul.
General manager Chuck Fletcher said Parise was not feeling well the past few days and the team decided to give him a day of rest to regain his strength. "Give the guy credit. He played incredibly hard (Thursday) night," Fletcher said. "There's no sense having him feel sick again." Despite being unwell, Parise had eight of the Wild's 23 shots on goal in a 4-1 home loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.

Zach Praise is sick and did not practice Friday.
The Wild didn't provide any update on Parise's status for Saturday's game against the Nashville Predators, so we'll just have to wait until tomorrow to see if he feels better. Owners in daily leagues will want to check back after Saturday's morning skate for official word.

Zach Parise's goal on Monday was the 200th of his career.
Parise needed just 511 career games to reach that milestone. Zach is the son of J.P. Parise, who ended up with 238 career goals in 890 NHL games.

We need other guys to step up and contribute and if we have to break things up to do that, we'll look to do that."

Parise had two assists and eight shots on goal. He'll have no problem continuing to be a top-flight player in the league with his new team. "I was smiling the day we signed these guys, and I'm still smiling," Dany Heatley said. "Zach is one of the best guys in the league down low at the goal line jamming it to the net, and you saw that tonight. Every power play he created something down there."

Zach Parise will have to get used to more travel as a member of the Minnesota Wild this season.
Parise played with New Jersey last season and if he was still on the Devils, he would only have to travel around 11,000 miles, rather than the 31,345 miles the Wild will spend in the air. It could make a big difference, especially with the compressed schedule. "This will be a big adjustment for me," Parise said.

The Wild will open their season at home against the Avalanche, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Michael Russo.
The NHL should officially release the schedules of all the teams as soon as the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is signed. Minnesota was 3-3-0 versus Colorado last season.
