Stephen Valiquette, G, New York Rangers
2009/11/07:  Stephen Valiquette will start in Saturday's game against the Calgary Flames. Starting goaltender Henrik Lundqvist is day-to-day with a minor undisclosed injury, so Valiquette will play in between the pipes. Valiquette has a 2.63 GAA and .891 save percentage in three starts this season. (Source: New York Newsday)
LATEST NEWS
Michael Nylander, C, Washington Capitals
2009/11/07:  The Washington Capitals have placed Michael Nylander on waivers. Nylander comes with a $4.875 million cap hit, so we doubt any team will want to claim him. Nylander hasn't played in a single game with the Capitals since his disastrous 2008-09 campaign. He scored just nine goals and 33 points in 72 games and the Capitals have made it clear that they want nothing more to do with him. The Capitals sent him to the AHL on a conditioning stint in the hopes that a European team might take an interest in him, but his conditioning stint ended up Wednesday. We'll keep you posted. Kim Johnsson, D, Minnesota Wild
2009/11/07:  Kim Johnsson (shoulder) was on the ice with Minnesota Saturday morning. Johnsson could return to the Wild's lineup on Tuesday against Toronto. He hasn't played since October 23rd due to the injury. (Source: Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune)
James Sheppard, C, Minnesota Wild
2009/11/07:  James Sheppard will probably be a healthy scratch Saturday. Sheppard NHL career seems to be going downhill. He was a disappointment last season with just 24 points and a minus-14 plus/minus rating in 82 games, but things are going even worse for him in 2009-10. Sheppard has no points and a minus-six rating in 14 games this season. He was selected ninth overall in the 2006 entry draft, but he has no fantasy value at this time. Bryan Bickell, LW, Chicago Blackhawks
2009/11/07:  Bryan Bickell has been sent down to the AHL. Chicago has been saving cap space this season by sending down players to the AHL during off-days. Bickell might be called up in time for Monday's game against Los Angeles. (Source: Chicago Tribune)
Radek Martinek, D, New York Islanders
2009/11/07:  Radek Martinek will miss the remainder of the season because of a torn ACL in his right knee. Martinek will finish the 2009-10 campaign with two goals and three points in 16 games. He has played in eight season with the Islanders, but has never finished a season with more than 17 points or 40 penalty minutes. (Source: New York Newsday)
Tuukka Rask, G, Boston Bruins
2009/11/07:  Tuukka Rask might play in Saturday's game against the Sabres. Rask was the first goalie off the ice for the Bruins this morning. That's usually an indication of who will start, but we want to emphasize that there's currently no named goaltender for Saturday's game. Consider Rask the probable starter, but Tim Thomas could still end up playing in between the pipes. (Source: Boston Globe)
Eric Belanger, C, Minnesota Wild
2009/11/07:  Eric Belanger (upper body) participated in Minnesota's Saturday morning skate. Belanger might be able to play against Dallas Saturday night. He missed the third period of Thursday's game due to the injury. (Source: Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune)
Eric Fehr, RW/LW, Washington Capitals
2009/11/07:  Eric Fehr (ribs) will probably play on Saturday against Florida. Washington placed Alex Ovechkin on the injury reserve list to make room for Fehr on their roster. He has been sidelined since October 24th due to his rib injury. (Source: Washington Post)
Alexander Ovechkin, LW, Washington Capitals
2009/11/07:  Alex Ovechkin has been placed on the injury reserve list due to a shoulder injury. Ovechkin skated on Thursday, but he still won't play until Wednesday at the earliest. He has 14 goals and 23 points in 14 games this season. (Source: Washington Post)
Shaone Morrisonn, D, Washington Capitals
2009/11/07:  There is a good chance that Capital defenseman Shoane Morrisonn will be suspended for at least Saturday's rematch against the Panthers. He clocked Cats' Kenndal McArdle from behind into the boards in third period of Friday's game. Given that Morrisonn is a repeat offender, a suspension is likely. (Source: Washington Post)
John Mitchell, C/LW, Toronto Maple Leafs
2009/11/07:  The line of John Mitchell, Phil Kessel and Jason Blake looked very good against the Hurricanes on Friday. The trio combined for four points in the Leafs' 3-2 win. If Mitchell can keep a first-line job alongside the shoot first, ask questions later Blake and Kessel, he could pile up some assists. Keep him in mind if you need to make a pick up. Michael Rupp, LW/C, Pittsburgh Penguins
2009/11/07:  Don't be shocked if Michael Rupp sees some time on the Penguins' first power-play unit. He has been very effective planting himself in front of the enemy net and has four goals so far this season despite the fact he is getting most of his ice time on the team's fourth line. When asked about the prospects of Rupp playing on the power play, Penguins' coach Dan Bylsma said the following: "Yes, we have. Net-front presence, down low around the net, he's certainly shown the ability to score in that area, nice hands in that area, and the big body in front of the net is something we've contemplated and talked about." If you are looking for a short-term replacement, Rupp may be worth a look. (Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)
Ray Emery, G, Philadelphia Flyers
2009/11/07:  Despite playing against the Sabres Friday night, Ray Emery is expected to start against the Blues on Saturday. He has really become a reliable workhorse. I hope you listened to our adivce when we predicted a strong comeback season for Emery in August. (Source: Philadelphia Inquirer )
Pascal Leclaire, G, Ottawa Senators
2009/11/07:  Pascal Leclaire will likely get the start against the Devils on Saturday. It will probably be confirmed after Saturday morning's skate. If Leclaire does not start, he will not be too pleased with Sens' coach Cory Clouston as Martin Brodeur, who Ottawa will be facing, is his idol. (Source: Ottawa Sun)
