Danny Ainge is expecting to see an improved Rajon Rondo (knee surgery) when he returns next season.
I think Rondo is a smart guy, and he got to see the strengths and weaknesses of our team and the players," said Ainge. "I think he actually started to see it even before he was out, but when you're out, you can see things in your team and your teammates that maybe you didn't see before." Ainge also said that Rondo "doesn't listen to everything you say, but he's got his own ideas of what he can do to get better, as well." Ainge concluded with "Listen, I think Rajon has matured every year. He has gotten better." Rondo wants to return faster than Adrian Peterson, bu that seems like a lofty goal. There is no firm timetable for his return.

Rajon Rondo could be dangled in trade talks "in case a deal makes sense," according to the Boston Herald.
We've heard Rondo could be traded in the "right deal" for a while now, but Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook or someone of that nature is not walking through the door. The C's will only move Rondo if it's a trade that unquestionably makes the team better, and it's not expected that scenario will be available to Boston. The Boston Herald writes this "nearly annual look into Rondo's trade value has to eventually reach a limit," but we wouldn't expect it to be during the offseason. The Celtics don't even have a true backup in place at point guard.

Rondo underwent surgery in mid-February, so if he's able to be ready at the start of training camp, it will be a pretty speedy recovery for the Celtics starting point guard. Well, that was fun while it lasted. While deals can still happen after a player has been assured he won't be moved, it would be a monumental surprise to see Rondo moved. It's also probable teams aren't interested in giving up a ton of value for Rondo, who won't contribute this season.

Rondo apparently injured the knee Friday against the Hawks. He went through the walk-through with the Celtics Sunday but was scratched at the last minute. He was sent to the hospital to get an MRI and will be replaced in the starting lineup by Courtney Lee. He shot 10-of-19 from the field and was very aggressive in attacking the basket with 11 of his attempts coming from within four feet. Despite his shots per game on the season increasing from last year, his shots at the rim have dropped. Rondo looks to be out of his slump that was bothering him earlier this month and the buy-low window is closing fast.

The Celtics fell behind by double-digit points in the first quarter and could never get over the hump. There might have been a buy-low window before tonight, but that is going to close quickly. Paul Pierce also had a team-high 19 points with four rebounds, six assists, one steal, one block and two 3-pointers.

He hasn't responded very nicely from his one-game suspension. In those two games, Rondo shot 37.5 percent on 24 attempts and both games had just eight assists.
