Durant is being asked to do everything and he's looking like a player who runs out of gas at the finish line over the last couple of contests. Durant is doing everything for the Thunder, but he's demanding more from himself. "It's always things you can do more. KD scored 12 of his points in the final eight minutes of the game and he put the team on his back. "I just gotta get it," Durant said in the post-game interview on ABC and he's right. His shots per game have jumped up to 23.6 attempts per game since Russell Westbrook went down, which is well above his regular-season average of 17.7 per game. He's going to be busy against Memphis' tough defense in this series.

It took them long enough. Even without Russell Westbrook they have the second best player in the NBA in Durant and a Defensive Player of the Year candidate in Serge Ibaka, but rigid and misguided coaching from Scott Brooks yet again made this a tight series. Ibaka hit just 4-of-13 shots for 10 points with seven boards and two blocks, while Reggie Jackson filled in admirably with 17 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. If there is a silver lining for Thunder fans -- Kendrick Perkins was benched and Nick Collison got on the floor.

The Thunder are still in control of this series with a 3-2 lead, but didn't look good tonight. Outside of Durant, and a late explosion from Reggie Jackson, the Thunder looked lost for most of the night, and the OKC crowd never really got into the game. Jackson had 20 points, four boards, three assists, two blocks and two 3-pointers, but these were the only two players to really step up for a Thunder team that didn't look engaged for most of the night.

Durant's 38 points on 16 field goal attempts is remarkable and he's one of the most efficient players ever. This year he shot 51.0 percent from the field, 41.6 percent from 3-point land and 90.5 percent from the line to join Steve Nash, Larry Bird, Mark Price, Reggie Miller and Dirk Nowitzki as the only players in the 50-40-90 club. Durant and the Thunder will try again to close out the Rockets on Wednesday.

Scott Brooks says he'll rest Kevin Durant more in Game 4.
Durant played all but 45 seconds of Saturday's Game 3, registering 41 points, 14 boards, four assists, two steals, one block and four 3-pointers in 47 minutes. The Thunder asked Durant to play point forward with Russell Westbrook (knee) sidelined, which means Durant should be putting up massive numbers across the board as long as the Thunder are still in the postseason.

Durant took just 17.7 shots per game during the regular season and if the Thunder are going to have success this postseason, KD is going to have to be counted on heavily just like tonight. He tied his career playoff high in points and his team will look to finish the series on Monday.

Durant entered the regular season vowing to become a better playmaker, especially after James Harden was traded to Houston. Durant struggled with turnover issues (3.5 per game) and attempted 1,433 shots, his lowest total since his second season in the NBA. Durant also shot 51 percent from the field and 41 percent from 3-point range and averaged 4.6 assists per game, all of which were career highs. Despite the turnover issues, Durant's well-rounded game makes an even more dangerous fantasy option and he remains the No. 2 player in the game behind LeBron James.

Durant would have had to score 70 points to win the crown, so now we just know a little earlier that Anthony will be at the top of the slag heap this season. Anthony was a man possessed to end the regular season and will look to roll that momentum into the postseason. It's not yet clear who will start for Durant for OKC on Wednesday.

Durant actually takes 4.4 less shots per game than Anthony and is much more efficient. What's more, Durant is most impressive in the 10-15 foot range and his 57 percent made from there is leaps and bounds better than the league average of 42 percent. He is holding steady as the number one player in fantasy hoops.

His scoring has really dipped and in his previous 10, he scored 28.7 points per game. However, Carmelo Anthony going nuts has helped him take the lead for the scoring crown. Durant turned in a huge line tonight and he'd be a good bet for MVP if not for the ridiculous season LeBron James is having.

Kevin Durant shot 7-of-17 from the field for 27 points with three rebounds, seven assists and four blocks in 45 minutes against the Knicks on Sunday.
Durant lost his lead for the scoring title and now trails Carmelo Anthony by 0.09 points per game. It was just the second time in his last 14 games in which he's failed to make a triple and also the third time in his last four games without a steal. As much as LeBron has been earning all the headlines, KD is still the best player in standard fantasy leagues for filling up eight categories.

Kevin Durant was unfazed by Indiana's elite defense on Friday, shooting 13-of-21 from the field for 34 points to go with nine boards, one assist and two 3-pointers during an easy 97-75 win at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
The Pacers have the lowest field goal percentage allowed in the NBA and their defensive efficiency ranks first, as well. What's more, Paul George has the highest defensive efficiency among small forwards, but he was no match for KD tonight. Durant moved his points per game to 28.38, which is barely ahead of Carmelo Anthony's 28.32. The two face each other on Sunday.

His scoring has dropped to 26.0 points per game after the All-Star break, which is down from the 29.2 he put up before that point. Carmelo Anthony has been scoring in bunches and Durant's lead for the scoring crown is down to just 0.2 points per game.

The Thunder's Big Three did fine in the box score, as Russell Westbrook scored 18 points on 7-of-17 shooting with four rebounds, nine assists and a three, and Serge Ibaka went for 10 and 11 with five blocks. The Thunder got nothing out of Kendrick Perkins (let alone Derek Fisher), as Perk's gritty screen-setting, attitude and toughness changed the culture of the Thunder so much that Nikola Pekovic waltzed his way to 22 points and 15 boards.

Kevin Durant is averaging 5.2 turnovers over his last nine games.
Durant is averaging 3.5 turnovers this season, down from 3.8 last season. With averages of 28.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.5 steals, 1.2 blocks and 1.8 3-pointers while still on track to record a 50-40-90 season, we can't imagine his owners care very much about the turnover issue. Scott Brooks said Durant is trying to "make the right pass," and if you own Durant, you'll gladly take the bad with the good as the latter outweighs the former by a wide margin.

This is the third time they've lost to Denver this season and Durant was 0-for-6 from downtown, and also committed six turnovers. Russell Westbrook, who had 25 points, six assists and just one turnover, catches a lot of heat for his TOs, but Durant may end the season averaging more of them. They came into the night with Westbrook at 3.5 per game on the season, while Durant was at 3.4. And with Durant fumbling it away five more times than Westbrook tonight, those numbers will probably be reversed in the morning.

Kevin Durant shot 8-of-15 from the field for 26 points with nine boards, three assists, three steals and one 3-pointer against the Magic on Friday.
He started out shooting 3-of-8 from the field and was the only player out of 10 to shooting below 50 percent from the field in the first half for OKC. KD and the Thunder put up 73 points in the first half and continue to lead the NBA in offensive efficiency this year.

Durant came in averaging 3.3 turnovers per game and will be very close to Russell Westbrook's average of 3.5 after tonight's line. Westbrook had 19 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, a steal, block and five turnovers on 6-of-11 shooting, and TOs or not, these two might be the most reliable tandem in the league.

He hasn't been the Kevin Durant we've grown to know and love, shooting just 43.9 percent from the field in his previous 10 games. Despite his offensive woes, he's scored 25.9 points per game in that stretch with 10.0 boards and 1.5 blocks. Durant did shoot 11-of-11 from the line on Sunday and is one make behind James Harden for the lead on the season.

Kevin Durant handed out seven assists against the Bobcats to go with 19 points, six boards, one block and one 3-pointer in 24 minutes.
He leads the NBA in fourth quarter scoring, but didn't even play in the period in a blowout win. Durant is a beast no matter where he plays and on the road this year, he scores more points per game while shooting 50 percent from the field.

Kevin Durant scored a team-high 34 points in Thursday's 95-94 win at Madison Square Garden, adding eight boards, six assists and two 3-pointers in 44 minutes.
He shot 9-of-20 from the field and made a living at the line, making 14-of-15 of his attempts. Durant did turn the ball over seven times, but he gave the Knicks his whole offensive repertoire with shots at the rim and soft-touch jumpers. He leads the NBA in scoring and Carmelo Anthony and company will have a tough time catching him.

The NBA has rescinded a technical foul assessed to Kevin Durant during Tuesday's win over the Lakers.
After the league's ruling, Durant now has 12 technicals on the season, which is four shy of the NBA's automatic-suspension threshold of 16. There's no denying Durant's played with much more of an edge this season, but the last thing fantasy owners want is him to be benched for a game down the stretch or in their league's playoffs.

He shot 12-of-15 from the line and played 45 minutes in the victory. Durant is somewhat cold and shot just 42.9 percent from the field in his previous five games. Carmelo Anthony took the lead for the scoring crown over Durant, but KD cut the lead to just 0.03 points per game after today's performance.

Kevin Durant had 18 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and two 3-pointers on 5-of-8 shooting for the third triple-double of his career (and second this season) in an easy, blowout win over the Hornets on Wednesday.
This is an amazingly efficient night for the stud, although more shots would have been nice. Russell Westbrook had 29 points, three assists and a 3-pointer, and made up for KD's lack of shooting by hitting 8-of-17 shots, as well as all 12 of his free throws. Serge Ibaka was also nice with 18 points, seven boards and three more blocks. The only bad news surrounding these two is their playoff schedule, as the Thunder finish up with a weekly schedule of 4-4-4-3-3-3-2, which isn't great news for the fantasy playoffs.

Kevin Durant had the second triple-double of his career with 16 points, 12 boards and 11 assists to go with two steals and one block in 42 minutes against the Rockets on Wednesday.
He fouled out for the second time in a row, which is surprising since he hasn't fouled out since December 8, 2011 before Thursday's loss to Miami. KD shot 4-of-13 from the field to set a season-low in field goals and percentage in a game. He's still holding the top spot in standard fantasy leagues.

Kevin Durant got hot in the second half and finished with 40 points to go with eight boards, four assists, one steal, three blocks and one 3-pointer in a loss to Miami on Thursday.
He shot 12-of-24 from the field and made all 15 free throws to make this an eight-category line. Durant did take an ugly fall in the first quarter and landed awkwardly on his shoulder, but he didn't miss any action. While LeBron James looks to have passed him in the MVP race, KD will enter the break as fantasy basketball's best player and leading the league in scoring.

He's also the second best player on the planet, trailing only LeBron James, who is on fire, for the honor.

We're not saying Durant is going to finish the season with those numbers, but the fact that he's still on pace to do so nearly halfway through the 2012-13 campaign is amazing in itself.
