Monty Williams wants Robin Lopez to improve defensively during the offseason.
"Defensively, I would like for him to be a force around the basket, blocking more shots and rebounding more," Williams said. "Defensively, I think he's got to become more of a force for us around the basket. I think he's more than capable athletically to do that." Lopez made some nice strides this season in his first full year as a starting center and should be solid again next year.

In the Hornets' previous two games, Lopez had averaged 14.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 34 minutes. Unfortunately, he came up against a small-ball Suns team without Marcin Gortat or Jermaine O'Neal tonight, and Monty Williams opted to go with smaller lineups.

Lopez didn't have a steal or block. He had a 20-point, 11-rebound game on Sunday, but he's a borderline player in 14-16 team leagues over the past month and that means owners in standards shouldn't chase his bigger nights.

Lopez shot 8-of-14 from the field and 4-of-4 from the FT line. Start him at your own discretion, but note that his minutes will fluctuate as long as Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson are healthy.

He'll have his bad game or two and this is pretty much what owners signed up for. Lopez was holding consistent value earlier, but with the Hornets having a sub-par schedule the rest of the way, he's only a borderline guy in standards.

Lopez has been somewhat feast-or-famine lately, and tonight fantasy owners went home hungry. The Grizzlies were missing Zach Randolph and Darrell Arthur, so presumably RoLo wasn't needed as often against smaller lineups, and he should fare better vs. the Blazers (Sunday) and Nets (Tuesday).

Consistency has been the issue with him and over his previous seven games, Lopez played in 16 minutes or less in three of those contests. On the bright side, the loss of Jason Smith suggests that Ro-Lo will need to see plenty of action and he's worth owning in standard leagues for his production in blocks and field goal percentage.

It was his second productive game in a row with his 12-point, seven-board game against the Kings on Sunday. While's he's been quiet lately, Lopez did have an eight-game streak with at least 11 points with some blocks and boards that ended on February 13. He's starting to come around again and should be owned in standard leagues.

RoLo finished 6-of-11 from the field in his strongest game in two weeks. Unfortunately, his averages over the previous four games have made him anathema to fantasy owners, so he probably wasn't in many active lineups -- 6.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 0.0 steals and 0.5 blocks. We'll reassess Robin's outlook if he plays well again vs. brother Brook on Tuesday.

Robin Lopez got into some foul trouble on Wednesday against the Cavs, scoring 15 points with three rebounds in 16 minutes.
He picked up three quick fouls and registered his first time fouling out all year. Despite the foul trouble, it's still nice to see him score a little. Lopez scored a combined six points in his previous two games and he doesn't have a track record for fouling, so he should be viewed as a hold in some formats.

Robin Lopez had just one point, four rebounds and two blocks in 21 minutes of Tuesday's loss.
Lopez had just five points and four rebounds against Portland on Wednesday, but was hot prior to that, scoring 23, 19, 17 and 11 points in four straight games, with a total of 30 boards in those games. He should bounce back in the next one, but his last two duds are definitely a concern.

Robin Lopez racked up 23 points, 10 rebounds, one steal and two blocks in Monday's easy win, while shooting 9-of-13 from the field and 5-of-5 from the FT line.
Lopez's rebounding is worthy of derision (this was his fourth double-digit game of the season) and his defense has glaring flaws, but fantasy owners won't argue with his numbers in the past two weeks -- 16.3 points on 65 percent shooting, with 6.5 rebounds, 0.6 steals and 1.8 blocks.

The inability to rebound might be a genetic trait with Robin and his brother Brook both being sub-par on the glass. In his last two, Robin has just four rebounds combined and he has the third-lowest defensive rebounding rate this year among centers that play at least 20 minutes per game. However, in his last four games he's averaged 15.0 points and 1.5 blocks, which makes him worth owning in some standard formats.

Lopez is going to have a hard time holding value with Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson humming, and this stalls his recent push to be owned in standard formats.

Ro-Lo is heating up again, averaging 15.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 2.0 blocks over his last two games. Prior to that, he was struggling, hitting single digits in points and rebounds in five straight games, with just two blocks over that stretch. And while his last two games have been rock solid, he somehow hasn't had a 10-rebound game since going for 11 on Dec. 22. He's got a nice matchup on Friday at Atlanta, so our guess is he'll keep it going.

Ro-Lo had scored nine or fewer points in five straight games, and hasn't had nine or more rebounds in a game since Dec. 22. He's also blocked just a total of 10 shots in his last 15 games, and has just two blocks over his last seven. In other words, tonight looks like it might have been a fluke against the Lakers, who are more focused on passing than defense.

Robin Lopez bottomed out in Wednesday's game, scoring seven points with one rebound in 15 minutes of action.
The Spurs picked him apart in screen-and-rolls whenever he stepped on the court, and basically forced Monty Williams to bench him in favor of a more mobile and more aware lineup. He's going through a very rough stretch, averaging 6.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.3 blocks in his past three games, which is grounds for benching him in average leagues.

Robin Lopez played under 20 minutes in Saturday's defeat, scoring two points and failing to grab a rebound for the first time all season.
The Warriors were playing without David Lee, which made them even smaller than usual, and Lopez fell by the wayside with Anthony Davis (20 points) and Ryan Anderson (19 points) both playing well. He remains a viable source of blocks and FG percentage, but he's a low-end option thanks to fluctuating minutes in January.

Robin Lopez had 17 points, six rebounds and zero blocks in Wednesday's win over the Celtics.
Lopez has been inconsistent lately, alternating good games with bad ones, while this was his first game without a block in his five. He's a serviceable fantasy center, but is tough to own in points leagues due to the inconsistent scoring.

Robin Lopez scored four points on 2-of-3 shooting with six rebounds, two assists, and two blocks in 27 minutes on Friday.
Lopez started to pick things back up (a little bit) on Wednesday after a week-long cold streak, so this is disappointing to say the least. It's possible that he's the odd man out with Eric Gordon back, and while it wouldn't be surprising if he was productive once again owners can certainly look at other options.

The Hornets went on a fourth quarter blitz as the reserves got hot, so guys like Lopez, Eric Gordon, Greivis Vasquez and Anthony Davis were all on the bench late. Lopez had cooled off recently, but showed signs of getting it turned around tonight.

Lopez has finished outside of the money in 12-team, 8- and 9-cat leagues over his past three games, but his body of work this year should buy him at least a little more time with owners in those formats.
