Bucks general manager John Hammond said Wednesday he thinks Brandon Jennings wants to return to Milwaukee next season.
Jennings is slate to be a restricted free agent and has been very clear he doesn't want to play next season on a one-year tender. In fact, Jennings said in March he'll leave as soon as he can if the Bucks decline to offer him a lucrative, long-term deal. The sometimes-controversial point guard has since softened his stance to a more diplomatic "I don't know" on Tuesday when asked if he wants to stay with the Bucks. In the end, we think Jennings probably plays elsewhere next season, but it'll certainly be interesting to see how that happens.

Jennings is trying to save face just in case he does end up back in Milwaukee. He's clashed with coach Jim Boylan and essentially said he wants out. It remains to be seen how the Bucks will play their hand here. They could wait to see what kind of offer sheet Jennings gets, or they could try to pull off a trade. It's an offseason story to monitor closely.

That's not exactly the way a player would want to end his contract and this horrible game could cost Jennings. He's shown some flashes here and there, but as a career 39.4 percent shooter, he's not exactly an ideal option as a team's primary scoring option. Jennings could certainly use some help around him next season.

Brandon Jennings softened his stance on the Bucks with restricted free agency around the corner.
Jennings, who is notorious for saying the wrong things at the wrong times, picks an awfully interesting time to clarify his previous remarks. "I said some things, you know, that I probably shouldn't have to make [the fans] think that [these might be my last days]," he said. "But in general I wouldn't want to leave without actually accomplishing something here and that's getting out of the first round or something like that." With an early postseason exit looming and free agency about to smack Jennings in the face, it seems like Jennings is simply trying to save face here.

Jennings didn't look great tonight, but was one of just two Bucks to hit double figures in scoring tonight. For the Bucks to win a game in this series, both Jennings and Monta Ellis will have to shoot lights out, which will be tough against the Miami defense.

What else is he going to say? His comments will raise just about everyone's eyebrows, but frankly he'd be bashed if he picked against his own team, so we're not inclined to put a ton of stock into this. "There's no pressure on us," Jennings said.

He was already dealing with a left Achilles injury, but it doesn't sound like this is an aggravation of that injury. The Bucks are locked into the No. 8 seed so it would be surprising to see Jennings return to the game at this point. If he's out, he'll finish with eight points and two 3-pointers in seven minutes, and should be considered questionable for Game 1 of the playoffs.

We'll keep our ear to the ground to see if his Achilles' injury is going to be an issue, but otherwise owners should stay open-minded to the chance he bounces back in the finale. Monta Ellis (38 points, four assists, six threes) and J.J. Redick (20 points, four threes) picked up the slack in the backcourt.

He's shot at least 40 percent in each of his last four games, which is just about the equivalent of LeBron's streak games shooting at least 60 percent from the field for B-Jen. Kidding aside, Jennings is playing better these days and belongs in all lineups.

It was his third game shooting at least 40 percent from the field, which coincidentally has been his field goal percentage since the All-Star break. Jennings is starting to come around after not really meshing off the bat when J.J. Redick joined the team at the trade deadline.

The Bucks were hot everywhere, shooting 51 percent from the field, 52 percent from downtown and 88 percent from the line. This was a normal line for Jennings with horrible shooting to go with some scoring, threes and dimes. He may have upset his owners for his goose egg last week, but he should be in all lineups.

He was benched in Wednesday's game and obviously wasn't happy about it, but he did the professional thing tonight and let his play do the talking. Jennings has really fallen off in the second half with his averages down 2.9 points per game and steals down 1.0. Even though fantasy owners cursed his name countless of times on Wednesday, he's obviously just too good to bench.

Brandon Jennings made it clear he's not happy with being benched during Wednesday's game, saying "I don't see any all-stars in this locker room."
Jennings played just 17 minutes Wednesday, which Jim Boylan said was because he "needed to do something to try to energize our team." The pending restricted free agent thought Boylan should've held the whole team accountable rather than just him. "This is the third time I've been benched in the second half and it hasn't been under (former coach Scott) Skiles," Jennings said after the game. The dueling quotes between player and coach certainly aren't a good sign for owners hoping both parties would move forward from this ugly incident. We imagine Jennings' playing time Thursday will be one of the more closely watched stats across the league tonight.

Jim Boylan explained his benching of Brandon Jennings on Wednesday by saying he "needed to do something to try to energize our team."
Ouch. Jennings finished with no points and played just 17 minutes, and it's not clear how this will shake out for Thursday's game against the Lakers. "When you play that position (point guard) there comes a lot of responsibility," Boylan said. "So you have to bring it every single night at both ends of the floor. if that's not happening, you need to do something." Boylan's comments speak volumes about how he felt Jennings played Wednesday.

This couldn't have come at a worse time for Jennings' owners, while he was struggling coming in, hitting 4-of-15 shots for 12 points and 13 assists on Sunday. Now we'll have to wait for details on the situation, but it's possible that this is far from over. He could sit in the doghouse the rest of the way, be suspended for conduct detrimental to the team, or say the right things and bounce back. In any case, owners have no choice but to wait for the details to emerge and then act accordingly. But as far as we know, he is healthy.

Brandon Jennings stayed cold on Sunday, shooting 4-of-15 from the field for 12 points with three boards, 13 assists, three steals and one 3-pointer in 43 minutes against the Hawks.
He has really struggled with his shot and in his previous five games, shooting a paltry 33.7 percent from the field. Jennings shot a respectable 43.1 percent from the field after the All-Star break last year, but that's not going to happen this year. He still belongs in all lineups and should have better luck against the Sixers on Wednesday.

Brandon Jennings had four points on 1-of-15 shooting in Friday's blowout loss to the Pacers.

Jennings had a couple of poor scoring games recently, but is back on track after scoring 21, 15 and 24 in each of his last three, while handing out 27 assists with 10 3-pointers over that stretch. Regardless of whether he's hot or slumping, he's too good to be benched in almost any league.

The ugly shooting line is tough to swallow, but at least he was a major part of the offense with only 15 combined shots in his previous two games. Jennings will have his ups and downs, but he should be worth starting in all leagues.

Brandon Jennings hit just 2-of-8 shots and zero 3-pointers for eight points, but also had three rebounds, 10 assists and two steals in 41 minutes of Wednesday's loss to the Wizards.
The lack of scoring is easier to live with when he's handing out assists, but his scoring has been an issue over his last two games. But he's hit double digits in assists in five of his seven March games and is still averaging 17 points per game this month. Look for his scoring to remain inconsistent going forward, but realize that he could blow up and score 30 on any given night, without notice. And when you factor in the assists, he remains a must-start player. Monta Ellis is still feeling it and had 26 points and eight dimes, and is as hot as any player in the league.

Brandon Jennings scored just four points with five boards, five assists and two turnovers in 27 minutes against the Mavericks on Tuesday.
Just when you thought he had everything turned around, he lays an egg in his first game of the week. In his previous five games, Jennings averaged 13.2 assists with 19.2 points. His owners have no choice but to hope he can turn it around in Washington on Wednesday.

Brandon Jennings scored 31 points and handed out 10 assists vs. the Warriors on Saturday, knocking down 10-of-16 FGs with a season-high six 3-pointers.
After a brief lull following the trade for J.J. Redick, Jennings has exploded in March with averages of 20.0 points, 4.0 triples and 14.5 assists. He is riding four consecutive double-doubles, a career best, and his conscious effort to play as a pass-first PG has thus far been a resounding success. Monta Ellis also kept up his excellent play with 26 points, two 3s, five boards, five assists and two steals.

Brandon Jennings says if he signs a one-year qualifying offer this summer, there "no way" he's coming back to Milwaukee as an unrestricted free agent in 2014.
Jennings is scheduled to be a restricted free agent this summer and says he'll only stay with the Bucks if they offer him a long-term deal and make changes to the team and the organization. Jennings' name was bandied about in trade rumors at the deadline and he's openly flirted with the idea of leaving the Bucks in the past. We'd say it sounds like he's a goner, but the Bucks can pay Jennings the most money and that's always a factor

Jennings is back in full effect, averaging a ridiculous 16 points, 16 assists, nearly two steals and three 3-pointers over his last three games, while J.J. Redick (three points) has cooled off after a hot start for his new team. Monta Ellis was great again with 22 points and six assists, and Jennings and Ellis are the two Milwaukee guards you want to be starting on your fantasy team right now.

Coach Jim Boylan said he's been "preaching" to Brandon Jennings about becoming more of a pass-first point guard.
Jennings certainly appears to be listening. Over the last two games he has racked up a mind-blowing 36 assists -- the most by any player during a two-game period this season. "His willingness to move the ball, become an assist guy. I talked to him about a guy like Chris Paul," Boylan said. "Night in and night out he's a major factor, but his stats are always a bit different."

Brandon Jennings shot 8-of-14 from the field for 20 points with one board, 17 assists, three steals and four 3-pointers in 47 minutes against the Jazz on Monday.
After back-to-back eight-point, six-assist games on Tuesday and Wednesday, Jennings has absolutely caught fire with Saturday's 19-assist game and Monday's explosion. All those concerns that were popping up last week have been put to bed and Jennings is on the rise in fantasy leagues once again.

Jennings shattered his previous high of 13 dimes, and his 45 minutes were easily his most since J.J. Redick came to town. It's too soon to declare a sea change for Jennings, especially since this came against a Raptors team which went small often, but at least it gives us cause for optimism.

Brandon Jennings played 30 minutes and hit just 3-of-8 shots and two 3-pointers for eight points, four rebounds, six assists and zero steals in Wednesday's win.
This is rock bottom for Jennings, who has seen J.J. Redick come in and steal some of his minutes, while a streaking Monta Ellis has basically taken over the playmaking duties from Jennings. He's not hanging his head just yet, or at least he doesn't appear to be, but if he doesn't get it going soon, his owners could be in for a rough ride through the fantasy playoffs. Jennings has scored 11 or fewer points in his last three games while playing 32 minutes or less in each of them. Fantasy owners can be mad at Jim Boylan all they want, but the Bucks have won two straight games with Jennings being nearly invisible in both of them.

Brandon Jennings was benched in the fourth quarter during Tuesday's win over the Dallas, shooting 3-of-11 from the field for eight points with three rebounds, six assists and two turnovers in 32 minutes.
To make matters worse, it was just his second game all year without a steal or a 3-pointer. Jennings shot 3-of-11 from the field and didn't play well, so coach Jim Boylan opted to go with Monta Ellis and J.J. Redick down the stretch. It was his second game in a row with only 11 field goal attempts, which is uncharacteristic since he's shot the ball 12 or more times in every game since December 21. It'll be tough to correlate the acquisition of J.J. Redick having such a vast negative impact on Jennings on a small sample size, but things aren't looking good in his two games.

Impending restricted free agent Brandon Jennings said he'd have interest in playing for the Mavericks.
Now that the trade deadline has passed and Jennings wasn't moved, rumors surrounding his summer plans are going to abound. The Mavs are shaping up to have plenty of cap space and are in the market for a difference-making point guard. They reportedly tried to trade for Jennings last week. Mark Cuban could put a monster contract in front of Jennings to sign, thus daring the small-market Bucks to match it. "Who wouldn't want to play in an environment like this every night?," Jennings said. "You've got an owner who's so into his team and everything like that. Every time you see the Mavs, you see him cheering or going crazy. They won a championship. They're about winning."

Brandon Jennings played 30 minutes in Saturday's loss to Atlanta, which he finished with 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting, five assists and one steal.
The Bucks used a three-guard lineup for most of the second quarter and the final four minutes of the game, and it's fair to wonder how Jennings' role will be affected by J.J. Redick, who played 35 minutes off the bench. Jennings' 11 shot attempts matched his fewest since mid-December, for instance, but an adjustment period is to be expected and fantasy owners should wait a few games before reaching conclusions.

This is the second straight report of this nature after Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski came down with the initial one. Despite Jennings changing agents and angling for leverage in contract negotiations, it would appear he's headed for restricted free agency and a future in Milwaukee. Jennings could always take a one-year qualifying offer and become an unrestricted free agent in 2014, but that's a big risk.

Brandon Jennings shot 12-of-18 from the field for 31 points with two rebounds, 11 assists, one steal and four 3-pointers in a 97-94 loss to the Nets on Wednesday.
Jennings is coming out of the break on fire, making a combined 25-of-44 from the field in his two games against the Nets. He shot just 31.6 percent in his six games prior to the break, so his owners should be feeling pretty good right now. For what it's worth, Jennings' field goal percentage after the break last year was 2.7 percent better than it was before the break. We still don't think he'll be much better than 40 percent the rest of the way.

Brandon Jennings found his shot on Tuesday, hitting 13-of-26 of them, three 3-pointers and 5-of-6 free throws for 34 points, six rebounds and seven assists.
This was the first time Jennings hit half his shots in a game since Feb. 2, and he was just 29-of-96 in his previous five games, good for a pathetic 30 percent. Hopefully this is a sign he's going to start shooting it better, but we're afraid it was probably more of mirage than anything else. Now we'll have to see if he is traded before Thursday's deadline.

Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski says "no one" will offer impending restricted free agent Brandon Jennings a max contract.
The Bucks hold all the cards here. Even if Jennings wants out of Milwaukee, he's not going to get a monster deal this summer and the Bucks "will match" any offer sheet he signs. Monta Ellis is much more likely to get traded by Thursday's deadline.

The Bucks are unlikely to trade Brandon Jennings or Monta Ellis before the deadline, a source told Yahoo! Sports.
The Bucks have stated all along that they intend to keep Jennings and match any offer that he receives in restricted free agency, but if Ellis opts out as he's expected to, the Bucks starting backcourt could be hitting free agency together. The source told Yahoo! that the team doesn't have "anuything going trade-wise" for either player.

Bucks coach Jim Boylan disputed an ESPN report which said there were "irreconcilable differences" between the Bucks and Brandon Jennings.
"Brandon and I talk all the time," Boylan said. "I just know my conversations with Brandon. He's here; he's a Milwaukee Buck." Jennings also cautioned not to read into his recent decision to switch agents, but there's little doubt that the soon-to-be restricted FA will explore signing with a big-market team this summer. He's still a viable trade candidate, but recent reports suggest Monta Ellis and Samuel Dalembert are the Bucks' most likely to be traded this week.

Beat writer Gery Woelfel says the Bucks never offered Brandon Jennings a four-year, $40 million extension.
ESPN previously reported that Jennings had declined that offer before this season started. Either way, Jennings' desire to sign in Milwaukee long-term remains in doubt. And if he does sign, he certainly won't be giving a home-town discount. For reference, here are some point guard contracts that have been signed in the last year: Jrue Holiday four years, $41 million; Steph Curry four years, $44 million; Ty Lawson four years, $48 million.

Brandon Jennings shot 8-of-21 from the field on Wednesday for 21 points with four rebounds, five assists, four steals and two 3-pointers in 42 minutes.
He has been mired in a slump in his previous six games, shooting 31.2 percent from the field and 65.4 percent from the line. Jennings has taken 18.2 field goals in that span and no player in the league has been more detrimental to percentages. He's still holding value with plenty of triples and steals, so selling low wouldn't be wise.

Brandon Jennings on Wednesday disputed a report that said he has "irreconcilable differences" with the Bucks.
The report in question from ESPN's Chad Ford also cited sources saying Jennings was frustrated about the sides not being able to work out a long-term contract. We do feel inclined to mention that this specific rumor was mentioned in an ESPN Insider column and not in a news story. Jennings, who recently changed agents, will be a restricted free agent after the season, so rumors are bound to run rampant from now until the end of the season.

The Mavericks have a "level of interest" in acquiring Brandon Jennings, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.
Jennings will be a restricted free agent after the season and Bucks GM John Hammond has stated previously that he has no desire to trade the point guard, and it's worth noting the Bucks haven't expressed a desire to move him to date. The Mavs don't have much that would entice the Bucks in a trade, and any possible trade between the two clubs would likely have to include Drew Gooden's unsightly contract. We feel inclined to point out that the Mavericks should be interested in just about any point guard who might be available given the production they've received from that position this season.

Ouch. Jennings is struggling mightily right now and the trade deadline isn't helping matters, as he and his teammates are all in the rumor mill and Jennings himself has hired a big market friendly agent. Despite the struggles, this is a bona fide buy low moment as he's all but guaranteed to turn things around.

In his last 10 games, Brandon Jennings has made only 35.6 percent of his shots within nine feet of the basket.
Jennings is shooting a career-best 37.3 percent from downtown this season, but his overall FG percentage has dropped nearly two full points this season. The good news is that he's notching career-highs in a few categories, including 3-pointers (2.1), assists (6.1) and steals (1.9).

Brandon Jennings shot 5-of-16 from the field and 5-of-9 from the line for 17 points with five rebounds, four assists and four steals in 35 minutes against the Jazz on Wednesday.
The milk has gone bad for Jennings and his shot in his last five games, shooting 34.9 percent from the field on 16.6 shots per game along with 60.0 percent at the line on a 4.0 shots-per-game clip. He has been fine in all other areas and should be kept in all lineups. He'll get the Pistons on Saturday and even though Detroit allows the fewest points per game to point guards among Eastern Conference teams, we'd expect Jennings to have a nice bounce-back game with Jose Calderon running the point.

Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis combined to hit just 11-of-36 shots in Tuesday's loss to the Nuggets.
Jennings was 5-of-15 for 12 points, 10 assists, three steals and seven turnovers, while Ellis was 6-of-21 for 12 points, six rebounds, six assists, a steal and a three blocks, while neither player hit a 3-pointer in this one. They just couldn't get it going against the strong defense of Ty Lawson and Andre Iguodala, but should bounce back on Wednesday against the Jazz.

Brandon Jennings has parted ways with his agent and is expected to soon sign with Jeff Schwartz, whose clients include Deron Williams, Blake Griffin and Paul Pierce.
Jennings is heading toward restricted free agency after failing to sign an extension this year, as the Bucks preferred to let the market dictate his value. He hit four straight 3-pointers on four possessions as the Bucks blew the game open and this could be the game he needed to be named Rajon Rondo's replacement at the All-Star Game.

Bucks GM John Hammond said that the Bucks want to keep both Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis long-term.
Jennings has been subject to some trade speculation, but the Bucks have remained firm in their stance that the team plans to re-sign him as a restricted free agent. Monta Ellis can opt out of his contract after this season, so it's possible Milwaukee enters the offseason with both members of the backcourt on the free agent market.

Like we said then, we're still not sure why they're doing it, but this at least gives Hammond security while he tries to sort out the team's next coach and figure out what to do with Brandon Jennings in the offseason.

He also played terrific defense on Jrue Holiday and was he didn't commit any fouls for the third consecutive game. Jennings has been better shooting the ball in his last three with none of those games resulting in a field goal percentage below 42 percent. In the last two months of the 2011-12 season, he shot 44 percent from the field and his owners will be hoping for a repeat performance heading into the second half this year.

As usual, his big night meant that Monta Ellis (13 points, five steals) was quiet, though Ersan Ilyasova's 27 points gave the Bucks two players with 25+ for the first time all season. Jennings was shooting just 37 percent in his previous four games, but tonight he sank 9-of-20 FGs and 12-of-15 FTs, clearly relishing the challenge against Damian Lillard.

He shot 5-of-13 from the field for the second consecutive game and Jennings dropped his season field goal percentage to 40.8 percent. There was a chance he could have snapped out of not being a field goal percentage killer based on Jennings shooting 44 percent in March and April of 2012. He's still a fantasy beast and should be in all lineups.

Brandon Jennings is reportedly "the least likely Buck to be deal in-season," according to ESPN.com.
Jennings will become a restricted free agent after Milwaukee declined to sign him to an extension this year, and they want the chance to match another team's offer. That said, the Bucks are also "one of the teams most likely to make a move between now and the [trade] deadline," and we're sure to hear a variety of rumors in the coming weeks.

Brandon Jennings backed up Tuesday's 29-point performance with a season-high 35 points, six rebounds, six assists, a steal and five 3-pointers on 12-of-24 shooting in 40 minutes Wednesday, as the Bucks beat the Bulls for their second straight win for new coach Jim Boylan.
Jennings looks like a new player and it's apparent the Bucks are ready to let him run the offense at the quickest pace possible, and he's having a blast. So are his owners, and he's now hit a 3-pointer in 22 straight games.

We're not going to say this performance was related to Jim Boylan taking over for Scott Skiles, but this was Jennings' highest number of assists since he had nine of them back on Nov. 17, while the five 3-pointers were the most he's had in a game since Dec. 3. Jennings' shooting is alway a concern, but he's still a must-start fantasy player, regardless of his shooting percentage, and he's not going to skip a beat under a new coach.

The Bucks will give GM John Hammond a contract extension, according to owner Herb Kohl.
It's hard to see what he's done to earn the extension, and the Bucks haven't really improved over the last few seasons under his guidance. Nevertheless, the NBA is a league where many GM's fill their position long after they should be gone, and it appears Hammond will be the latest to earn that nod.

Scott Skiles, who is in the final season of his contract, does not want a contract extension from the Bucks and will likely be replaced after the season.
Skiles' name has come up in coaching rumors over the last couple of years as they related to his future in Milwaukee, which was always cloudy at best. One source told TNT's David Aldridge that Skiles questions the Bucks vision for the future, and it's hard to argue with that logic. Aldridge also notes the Bucks have told Brandon Jennings they'll match any offer he receives in restricted free agency.
