Tyson Chandler is hoping to be a focal point of the Knicks offense, vowing to work on his game and become a better player in the offseason.
"Tyson physically has to get back. I think he has to get on a weight program and try to bulk up a little bit. We have talked about that some as well as trying to develop a little bit on the low block and feel good about it," Mike Woodson said. Chandler also made some comments during the Knicks playoff run about the need to share the ball, so it's possible he's looking for the Knicks to change some things up.

Additionally, Chandler's strep throat caused him to lose weight, and he said that impacted him more than the neck issue. "I wasn't where I wanted to be (physically)," he said. "Tried to give the team everything I had." Chandler fouled out of the Game 6 loss with two points and six rebounds, and he was a complete no-show against Roy Hibbert in the second round.

He lasted under 23 minutes and was once again decimated by Roy Hibbert (21 points, 12 rebounds, five blocks), further evidence that his sore wrist, neck and back have limited him in the postseason. The former Defensive Player of the Year will earn a guaranteed $28.7 million over the next two seasons and New York can only hope that he stays healthy, as he's missed an average of 22.4 games per season since 2008-09.

The Knicks kept their season alive, and although it's not clear how the injuries may impact Chandler moving forward, he's fully expecting to play in Game 6. "I probably wont get the best night's sleep," he said. Chandler took a late tumble and left the court during the final minute, but we'd be surprised if he was forced to miss Game 6 with New York's season still on the line.

In other words, Chandler called out his teammates for not sharing the ball. "I watched the tape myself and there are open looks," he said. "We have to be willing passers. You have to sacrifice yourself sometimes for the betterment of the team and for the betterment of your teammates." Chandler didn't specifically call out anyone, but it's pretty easy to agree with what he's saying.

Chandler hasn't been fully healthy for quite some time, and although he's been at far less than full strength in Round 1, the Knicks have been able to stay successful. "These three games have been my conditioning," he said. "I feel like I'm getting better and better every game." "Game 2, I was a lot more lively," he said. "My legs were a lot better. I feel I'll be even better in Game 3 and start sprinting the floor and creating second-chance opportunities." Chandler has been limited to under 25 minutes in each of the first two games of the series, and even though he's feeling better, he's still not at full strength. Kenyon Martin's addition has proven extremely valuable for New York.

Chandler and Woodson have both noted that the big man is slowly but surely improving his conditioning, something likely connected to his weight loss. Although Chandler's still not 100 percent, the Knicks have been saved by the signing of veteran Kenyon Martin, who has been a huge piece both off the bench and in the starting lineup. Chandler played 22 minutes during a Game 2 win, but it's possible that could creep upward during Friday's Game 3.

He still not at 100 percent even though he and Mike Woodson have been saying his health and conditioning are improving. The Kenyon Martin signing has been big and K-Mart played 23 minutes with three points, 11 boards and four blocks. The Knicks will head to Boston for Game 3 on Friday and the two days off should help Chandler's health.

That's to be expected after Chandler missed extended time down the stretch and is now just getting back in the swing of things. Although he's dealing with minor neck stiffness, which he said he expected, Chandler should be a bigger factor in Game 2 after being completely ineffective in limited run during Saturday's Game 1.

"It won't take him long," Woodson said about Chandler getting his wind back. "That was a factor. I could tell the way he was moving that he didn't have the kind of pop we're used to seeing him have." Chandler only played 20 minutes on Saturday and he'll likely be above 25 on Tuesday.

After taking it easy due to his neck injury, Chandler played 38.0 minutes per game over his last two. He said he felt "way, way better" on Friday and we're inclined to believe him. There's a chance that the Knicks rest him at some point to prepare for the playoffs, so his owners will want to check back on the days the Knicks play the rest of the season.

Martin was pulled from a game for the second time this week on Wednesday and is also in doubt for Friday's game against Milwaukee. We likely won't know anything official until tomorrow, but it's becoming pretty obvious we can't trust what Woodson and the Knicks' front office have to say about injuries.

Chandler still isn't full strength and he hinted that being as close to 100 percent health for the playoffs is the primary goal. "It's tough trying to look up at the ball for rebounds or lobs," he said. "It's thrown my timing off. I'm just a little stiff right now. I'm not as mobile. I'm not there." Those quotes suggest Chandler is still a ways away from full health.

We don't think Chandler's injury has reached that level, but he's obviously still in pain and there's no guarantee he'll be in the lineup Friday. Stay tuned.

Chandler said this was the same injury that he suffered in the preseason and a knee contusion is more of a day-to-day than an indefinite injury. He was sideswiped by Corey Brewer and was in agonizing pain for several minutes. Chandler needed assistance to get back to the locker room and had trouble putting weight on his left leg. It doesn't look good for Chandler and he'll almost certainly get an MRI to check on the ligaments. Kenyon Martin and Chris Copeland figure to fill the void.

He was shooting 70 percent from the field back in mid-December, but his efficiency has taken a bit of a hit lately. He shot only 54.4 percent from the field in February, but the eye-popping boards with some uncharacteristically high block totals have offset that. His owners won't be complaining any time soon.

He's been overshadowed by Carmelo Anthony (27 points, seven boards and three 3-pointers on 10-of-17 shooting), but Chandler is having a big year.

Interestingly, Chandler didn't get his first rebound until the 3:18 mark in the second quarter, but he was still able to turn in a productive outing with eight boards. He was able to make all three attempts from the line on Thursday and should be in all lineups.

He continues to log serious minutes with the Knicks and played 37 minutes per game in his last 11 games. Chandler is leading the league in field goal percentage, shooting 69.3 percent thanks to 83 percent of his attempts coming from within three feet. He's playing some of the best basketball of his career.

Tyson Chandler had his third consecutive double-double in a 102-96 loss to Boston with 13 points and 17 boards in 41 minutes on Monday.
His 41 minutes are the most he's played in a non-overtime game this year. Chandler is averaging 32.5 minutes per game on the season, but he has been getting serious run lately, averaging 36.9 minutes in his last eight games. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year leads the league in field goal percentage and should be in all lineups.

He's the league's best shooter from the field with his 68.6 percent. This shouldn't be that surprising since 83 percent of his attempts come from within three feet of the hoop. Chandler has scored in double figures for four consecutive games and should be in all fantasy lineups.

Chandler admitted that his ankle limited him a touch against the Blazers on Tuesday, but he's hopeful he'll have his legs under him "a little better" on Thursday. As long as he's playing, owners are rolling him out there.
