|Assets:||A rare mix of size and athleticism for a receiver: built like a tight end but has legitimate No.1 wideout speed and agility. A big-play receiver who tracks the deep ball very well and will out-jump most defenders. Uses his frame to his advantage on catches.|
|Flaws:||Doesn't battle like he could for yardage after the catch. Could do a better job of using his size as a blocker. Off-field trouble with the law raises character concerns.|
|Career Potential:||Pro Bowl wideout (but only when focused).|

V-Jax limited, but 'will be ready' for Sunday | 12/05/2013 1:47 PM
NewsVincent Jackson (hamstring) was officially limited in Thursday's practice.
Rick Stroud on Twitter
ImpactAccording to coach Greg Schiano, V-Jax "will be ready to play on Sunday." Jackson is one of the league's more proven players at playing through limited practice reps, so his injury isn't a major concern heading into a juicy matchup with the Bills. Jackson's status will be updated on Friday.
V-Jax not spotted at beginning of practice | 12/05/2013 12:19 PM
NewsVincent Jackson (hamstring) was not spotted at the beginning of Bucs practice Thursday.
Rick Stroud on Twitter
ImpactWe'll wait for more info before getting too worried, but Jackson's hamstring issue may be more serious than originally thought. Owners need to ensure they have another option at the ready. If Jackson does play, he'll be a WR2 with upside in a home game against a Bills defense that just got shredded by Matt Ryan, Roddy White and Harry Douglas.
Vincent Jackson got a rest day | 12/05/2013 10:44 AM
NewsThe Tampa Tribune classifies Vincent Jackson's Wednesday absence as a "day off."
ImpactJackson was officially listed with a hamstring issue, but it's not a real concern. He played on 49-of-50 snaps last week and is expected back in practice Thursday as the Bucs get set to face the Bills Sunday.
Vincent Jackson misses practice Wednesday | 12/04/2013 2:00 PM
NewsVincent Jackson (leg) is not practicing Wednesday.
Scott Smith on Twitter
ImpactJackson is dealing with a minor leg injury, so the Bucs are just getting him a rest day. He should return to practice Thursday and will be a WR2 for Week 14 against the Bills.
Vincent Jackson goes for 61 yards in victory | 11/24/2013 5:29 PM
NewsVincent Jackson caught two balls for 61 yards in the Bucs' Week 12 win over the Lions.
ImpactThe Lions pushed a lot of coverage in Jackson's direction, rendering him largely a non-factor aside from a 47-yard catch in tight quarters down the right sideline. V-Jax will remain an every-week WR2 with WR1 upside when Tampa Bay takes on Carolina in Week 13.
Vincent Jackson erupts for 10-165-1 vs. ATL | 11/17/2013 4:58 PM
NewsVincent Jackson went off for ten catches, 165 yards, and a touchdown in the Bucs' Week 11 win over the Falcons.
ImpactV-Jax won contested catch after contested catch against the Falcons, beating Asante Samuel for a 53-yard bomb down the right sideline and scoring on a jump-ball fade on the other side of the formation from three yards out in the third quarter. V-Jax remains a boom-or-bust weekly WR2, but is worth firing up every week in fantasy leagues because he has week-winning talent. Keep riding him when the Bucs take on the Lions in Week 12.
Bucs want V-Jax to get more touches | 11/15/2013 9:09 AM
NewsCoach Greg Schiano said he wants Vincent Jackson to get more catches.
Impact"We need to make sure he gets his touches because he's a dynamic player," Schiano said. "With the loss of some (of our) weapons offensively, defenses are really going to key on him now. That's a fact of life. But get over it and find a way to get him the ball. That's what we have to do." Jackson has seen just 12 targets the past two weeks. He has a matchup with a soft Falcons defense up next. Jackson torched Atlanta for 138 yards and two touchdowns on ten catches in Week 7. He's Rotoworld's No. 15 receiver for Week 11.
Vincent Jackson upgraded to full on Thursday | 11/14/2013 6:00 PM
NewsVincent Jackson (knee) was upgraded to "full" in Thursday's practice.
ImpactJackson will start against the Falcons, and serve in his usual role. Although Jackson is averaging just 39 yards over his past three games, he remains a WR2.
V-Jax (knee) limited in Wednesday's practice | 11/13/2013 5:43 PM
NewsVincent Jackson (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday.
ImpactJackson hasn't been on the injury report since September when he was battling a rib injury. There's been zero indication he's in any danger of missing Week 11. It's likely just a way for the Bucs to get Jackson some time off. Jackson torched the Falcons for 138 yards and two touchdowns in Week 7.
V-Jax, Glennon not on same page on MNF | 11/12/2013 12:30 AM
NewsVincent Jackson caught three passes for 28 yards in Week 10 against Miami.
ImpactJackson was targeted a team-high eight times, but he and Mike Glennon didn't seem to be on the same page on a couple of throws. Jackson also dropped one pass. Midway through the second half, Glennon took a deep shot to Jackson. V-Jax didn't even look for the ball and quit running. A couple plays later, Jackson was the intended receiver on Glennon's interception. Jackson has a juicy matchup with the Falcons next week. He beat them for 138 yards and two touchdowns on ten catches in Tampa's Week 7 loss.
Seahawks hold V-Jax to 11 yards in Week 9 | 11/03/2013 7:57 PM
NewsVincent Jackson caught two passes for 11 yards in the Bucs' Week 9 loss to the Seahawks.
ImpactHe didn't get shut down by Richard Sherman. V-Jax matched up with Brandon Browner for most of the day, and 6-foot-4 Browner won the matchup more often than not. Expect a bounce back game when Jackson squares off with the Dolphins on Monday Night Football in Week 10. Perhaps most promising for Jackson's outlook is the fact that Mike Glennon is playing genuinely good football.
V-Jax held to five catches for 79 yards | 10/25/2013 12:26 AM
NewsVincent Jackson caught five passes for 79 yards in Thursday night's Week 8 loss to the Panthers.
ImpactJackson wasn't able to get anything going downfield with Mike Glennon and got the majority of his yardage in the second half with the Bucs playing from behind. He secured just five of his 13 targets, with his longest catch of the night going for 29 yards. Jackson was wasn't able to find the end-zone after scoring fours touchdowns over his last two games. He'll remain a borderline WR1 despite another tough matchup against the Seahawks in Week 9.
Glennon says he didn't lock on to V-Jax | 10/22/2013 9:36 AM
NewsMike Glennon said he didn't lock on to Vincent Jackson too much despite targeting him 22 times in Week 7.
Vincent Jackson goes off for 138 yards, 2 TDs | 10/20/2013 5:06 PM
NewsVincent Jackson had 10 catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's Week 7 loss to the Falcons.
ImpactJackson struggled with four drops in the first quarter, but was able to bounce back and essentially provide the Bucs entire offense. He made an impressive one-handed 59-yard touchdown catch in the first half and later scored on a fade route at the goal-line. The clear No. 1 option in the passing game, Jackson was targeted 22 times by Mike Glennon. He'll be a strong WR1 option despite a tough matchup against the Panthers in Week 8.
Vincent Jackson not listed on injury report | 10/10/2013 8:34 AM
NewsVincent Jackson is not listed on the injury report this week.
ImpactJackson battled through a rib injury in Week 4, catching just two passes for 27 yards. He's used the bye week to heal up and will be a full-go for Sunday's tasty matchup against the Eagles 30th-ranked pass defense. Even with Mike Glennon under center, Jackson is a strong WR2 play.
Vincent Jackson held to two catches | 09/29/2013 5:24 PM
NewsPlaying through a rib injury, Vincent Jackson was held to two catches for 27 yards in Tampa's Week 4 loss to the Cardinals.
ImpactDespite what the box score would suggest, Jackson wasn't on a snap count, and actually drew 11 targets from Mike Glennon. The rookie quarterback proved utterly incapable of delivering him the ball, however, sailing a number of passes either over Jackson's head or out of bounds. V-Jax was the intended target on both of Glennon's interceptions. Neither pick was V-Jax's fault. The good news, however, is that Jackson has Tampa's Week 5 bye to heal up and get on the same page with his new signal caller. Despite the dud afternoon, Jackson is on pace for 68 catches and 1,168 yards. He's a borderline WR1.
V-Jax & Mike Williams both active for Week 4 | 09/29/2013 11:35 AM
NewsVincent Jackson (ribs) and Mike Williams (hamstring) are both active for Week 4.
Report: Bucs may hold VJax out through Week 5 | 09/29/2013 9:12 AM
NewsNFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Bucs "may let" Vincent Jackson (ribs) rest through the team's Week 5 bye.
Ian Rapoport on Twitter
ImpactPer Rapoport, Jackson is "pushing to play" Sunday against the Cardinals. He's trying to decide whether or not he should take a pain-killing shot and suit up. Rapoport adds that Jackson is dealing with a "five-week injury." Jackson missed practice Wednesday and Thursday before returning for a limited session Friday. The Cardinals and Bucs kick off at 1 PM ET, so we'll know Jackson's status for today in a couple hours. He'll be a shaky WR2/3 play if active.
Vincent Jackson & Mike Williams questionable | 09/27/2013 12:49 PM
NewsVincent Jackson (ribs) and Mike Williams (hamstring) both returned to practice on a limited basis Friday and are listed as questionable for Week 4 against the Cardinals.
ImpactThere have been no indications from the Tampa media that either player is in danger of missing Sunday's game, but they both got in precious little practice time with debuting rookie quarterback Mike Glennon. Neither V-Jax nor Williams practiced on Wednesday or Thursday. And that could certainly be an issue in terms of Week 4 on-field chemistry. Jackson is a shaky WR2/3 against Patrick Peterson. Williams has a better matchup, but is a boom-or-bust WR3.
Vincent Jackson (rib) not practicing Thursday | 09/26/2013 1:58 PM
NewsVincent Jackson (rib) remained out of Bucs practice Thursday.
Pewter Report on Twitter
ImpactESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday that Jackson's injury is "not considered serious," but he'll likely have to get in at least a limited session on Friday to have a realistic chance of suiting up against the Cardinals. For now, V-Jax is a borderline WR1 against Patrick Peterson and Arizona, but he has the potential to fall down the ranks.
No practice for Vincent Jackson on Wednesday | 09/25/2013 6:10 PM
NewsVincent Jackson (rib) did not participate in practice Wednesday.
Rick Stroud on Twitter
ImpactJackson exited last week's game against the Patriots after playing just 42-of-71 snaps. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Monday that the injury is "not considered serious," and that Jackson was day-to-day. V-Jax is so close to breaking out. He had a 73-yard touchdown called back in Week 2, and then dropped a potential score last week before leaving. He'll be a borderline WR1 this week if he suits up. Check back for another Jackson update on Thursday.
Report: Vincent Jackson's injury not serious | 09/23/2013 3:28 PM
NewsESPN's Adam Schefter reports Vincent Jackson's rib injury is "not considered serious," and that he's day to day.
Adam Schefter on Twitter
ImpactBucs coach Greg Schiano was vague on V-Jax's status in Monday's pressure, but it sounds like there's a real chance he doesn't miss any time. V-Jax may have to be fitted for a flak jacket, but fantasy owners should consider him better than 50-50 for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. His status will be updated no later than Wednesday.
'Too early to tell' V-Jax's Week 4 status | 09/23/2013 2:45 PM
NewsSpeaking Monday, Bucs coach Greg Schiano said it's "too early to tell" if Vincent Jackson (ribs) will be ready for Week 4.
Dave Richard on Twitter
ImpactNFL Network reported Monday morning that Freeman was undergoing a full battery of tests, and the results apparently aren't yet available. Jackson didn't return to Sunday's loss to the Patriots after departing in the third quarter. Rib injuries are extra tricky for wideouts. V-Jax is probably less than 50-50 to suit up for Week 4.
V-Jax undergoing full battery of tests on rib | 09/23/2013 9:58 AM
NewsVincent Jackson is undergoing a full battery of tests on his injured rib Monday.
Ian Rapoport on Twitter
ImpactJackson left Sunday's loss at New England in the second half and did not return. Per the NFL Network, it's too early to know the severity of the injury. Wide receiver is a very difficult position to play through rib issues because they expose their abdomen to hits so often when reaching for passes. Consider V-Jax questionable for Week 4.
Vincent Jackson leaves game with rib injury | 09/22/2013 3:22 PM
NewsVincent Jackson was forced from Sunday's game against the Patriots with a rib injury, and is questionable to return.
ImpactV-Jax was seen getting worked on early in the second half, and has yet to return. He's likely done for the day. Mike Williams has also missed time with an unknown injury, but the Bucs haven't updated his status. Jackson had three catches for 34 yards before departing, and also dropped a potential touchdown.
Vincent Jackson robbed of big game | 09/15/2013 8:50 PM
NewsVincent Jackson caught five passes for 77 yards in Sunday's Week 2 loss to the Saints.
ImpactJackson should have had a much bigger game. In the second half, Josh Freeman threw him a deep jump ball which V-Jax impressively came down with and took for a 73-yard touchdown. But the Bucs were called for an illegal formation penalty because one of their tackles was lined too far off the line of scrimmage. It was one of 10 penalties the undisciplined Bucs took. Jackson appeared to be a little gimpy after taking a leg shot late in the game, but returned after just one snap on the sideline. He should be fine for next week's game in New England.
V-Jax goes for 7 catches, 154 yards | 09/08/2013 6:12 PM
NewsVincent Jackson caught seven balls for 154 yards in the Bucs' Week 1 loss to the Jets.
ImpactSo much for Cromartie Island. Jackson got the better of the Jets' top corner time and time again in the opener, using his physicality and overwhelming size to win in contested situations. V-Jax is an every-week WR1 as the Buccaneers get set to play a weak Saints defense in Week 2.
Vincent Jackson catches 1st pass of August | 08/24/2013 10:20 PM
NewsVincent Jackson caught one pass for 13 yards in the Bucs' third preseason game Saturday night at Miami.
ImpactIt was his first catch of the preseason; the Bucs haven't played their starting offense much this August. V-Jax finished 2012 as the No. 7 overall fantasy receiver, and we believe there is room for growth on last year's touchdown total of eight. He's a strong WR2 pick in standard drafts.
Schiano: V-Jax's versatility is increasing | 07/31/2013 7:33 PM
NewsCoach Greg Schiano reiterated the Bucs are increasing Vincent Jackson's versatility in order to get him open more.
ImpactThe Bucs aren't interested in using V-Jax to draw double teams and open up the field for others. They want to feed him. "He'll line up anywhere, from next to the tackle all the way out to No. 1 receiver, and everything between," said Schiano. "That makes it hard to be able to [cover], if the defense is trying to take him out of the game." Jackson is Rotoworld's No. 8 fantasy receiver.
Vincent Jackson seeing action at slot WR | 07/28/2013 3:08 PM
NewsVincent Jackson has "frequently" lined up in the slot in training camp, and is expected to be a "fixture" there in the Bucs' two-minute offense.
Tampa Bay Times
ImpactV-Jax is a mismatch creator inside the numbers because he can get safety and undersized slot corner coverage when he moves inside. Nearly 33 percent of Jackson's 2012 snaps came in the slot, so this isn't a new alignment. It's still a reminder that the Bucs do creative things to scheme him open. Jackson is not necessarily a receiver defenses can take away with double and bracket coverage.
