Scouting Report

Assets:	Had good movement and command with four pitches, and in his prime was a strong source for strikeouts, innings and wins. Was used to leading a staff and was also a positive veteran presence. Challenged hitters and was always very business-like.
Flaws:	Ongoing durability issues caught up to him with age and cost him some zip on his fastball. Occasionally lost focus, especially with runners on (and they could take liberties on the basepaths). While mostly limiting walks, he gave up a lot of hits later in his career.
Career Potential:	Quality workhorse starter.

Kevin Millwood has announced his retirement from baseball.

Impact

Millwood, 38, wanted to catch on with the Braves or Rays, teams that are close to his Gainesville, Georgia home, but after that didn't happen he's decided to hang it up. "I feel like I can still throw it well and going out on a high note is a big deal," Millwood said. "I just felt it was time to be closer to home and to be around the kids more often." Millwood retires with 169 wins, a 4.11 ERA, one All-Star game appearance and one ERA title after 16 seasons.
