Scouting Report

Assets:	No question, his biggest asset is his blazing speed. Few players get around the bases or the outfield quicker than he can. Can cover center field. Switch-hits, and can get red-hot at the plate.
Flaws:	Just as he can get hot with the bat, it can also turn cold on him for prolonged stretches. Still must prove he can make consistent contact. Injuries can slow him down, too.
Career Potential:	Speedy outfielder and table-setter.

Andres Torres had a terrific all-around day in Friday's 5-2 win over the Rangers in Cactus League action, going 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI.

Torres was also active on the bases, netting his first steal of the spring season. He missed a few weeks of action with an oblique injury, but appears to be back on track and should be ready to go for Opening Day. He's expected to serve as the Giants fourth outfielder, unless he can beat out Gregor Blanco for the starting job in left field.
