|Assets:||Has tremendous stuff and the ability to dominate hitters, especially lefty bats. Owns an arsenal of pitches that give batters fits. Can strike plenty of batters out.|
|Flaws:||Durability may be an issue, since he's relatively smallish (5-11, 205 pounds) for a pitcher. Needs to avoid the big inning and keep the walks to a minimum.|
|Career Potential:||Excellent lefty starter.|

NewsGio Gonzalez tossed seven scoreless innings but the Nationals lost late to the Cubs on Sunday.

ImpactGonzalez entered the game with a brutal 5.34 ERA and 1.38 WHIP. After allowing just the two runs on two walks and five hits, his ERA is 4.97 and his WHIP is 1.34. He should begin settling into a nice groove.
Gio knocked around again in loss to Braves | 04/30/2013 10:33 PM
NewsGio Gonzalez allowed five runs in four innings as the Nationals lost to the Braves on Tuesday.
ImpactWalks have always been Gio's nemesis, and they were again Tuesday. Gonzalez walked five batter in his four innings of work, but he also allowed seven hits. He's now worked five innings or less in four of his last five starts, winning just one game in that time. It's tough to keep trotting the southpaw out there, but he's always a threat to turn in a gem. That gem could come in his next start Sunday against the Pirates.
