|Assets:||A great athlete with excellent size and mobility, he hits the ball with huge power. Has the instincts and talent to be a star in all aspects of the game.|
|Flaws:||Strikes out too much and forces things at the plate sometimes. Also, his outfield defense is still a work in progress. Isn't much of a base-stealer.|
|Career Potential:||Power-hitting outfielder with very good upside.|

NewsJay Bruce went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI Saturday as the Reds beat the Brewers by a score of 13-7.
ImpactCould the 26-year-old outfielder finally be emerging from his prolonged early-season slump? He hit a solo shot to right-center in the bottom of the second inning and had two doubles in the third. He entered the game with a .247/.298/.367 batting line and came out of it hitting .258/.307/.406. Look for more of the same going forward.
Jay Bruce goes 0-for-4, fans three times | 04/29/2013 11:38 PM
NewsAfter being dropped to sixth Sunday, Jay Bruce was back in the fifth spot in the order Monday, but he went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the Cardinals.
ImpactIt looked like Bruce was pointed in the right direction a week ago, but he's fallen back into another slump, having gone seven straight games without an RBI. We doubt it will last, so he looks like a nice buy-low candidate at the moment.

Bruce then won it with a bases-loaded single to right field.

ImpactHis two-RBI double off of Stephen Strasburg in the first inning got the scoring going, and he added a single later. Bruce entered the day with just five hits in his first 24 at-bats, so the nice showing against one of the best pitchers in the game was good to see.

ImpactBruce was scratched from a Cactus League game Monday because of mild soreness in his right heel. "He'll be all right in a couple of days," manager Dusty Baker told reporters Monday night. Jay Bruce offers to play center field | 01/13/2013 9:36 AM
NewsThough the Reds plan to play Shin-Soo Choo in center field, manager Dusty Baker said Jay Bruce has called him and offered to play the position.
Impact"Jay asked if I wanted him to come in lighter in case Choo is better a right fielder than center fielder," Baker said. While Baker appreciated the gesture from Bruce, who has played 35 games in center during his career (compared to Choo's 10 games), the Reds believe Choo will be good enough at the position to stay there.
