|Assets:||A talented lefty with a good fastball, slider and change, he shows good composure on the mound and makes adjustments on the fly. Elevates his game with more on the line. Can finish what he starts.|
|Flaws:||Struggles when he is too much of a nibbler, instead of attacking the strike zone. His health will always be a concern as long as he's toiling in the big leagues, after having already battled lymphona.|

Lester improves to 6-0 as Red Sox beat Rays | 05/16/2013 12:05 AM
NewsJon Lester allowed two runs over seven innings as the Red Sox defeated the Rays 9-2 on Wednesday.
ImpactThe start came on the heels of Lester's one-hit gem against the Blue Jays his last time out. The southpaw wasn't quite up to that standard Wednesday, but he was still plenty good enough to get the win. He's now 6-0 with a 2.72 ERA and is enjoying a bounce-back campaign from his down 2012. His next start will come Monday against the White Sox.
Jon Lester spins one-hit shutout against Jays | 05/10/2013 10:05 PM
NewsJon Lester tossed a one-hit shutout Friday in a 5-0 win over the Blue Jays.
ImpactIt was his third career shutout and his 10th complete game. Lester faced one batter over the minimum, striking out five while walking none. The Blue Jays' only hit was a two-out double by Maicer Izturis in the sixth inning. Lester is now 5-0 on the year and holds an excellent 2.73 ERA and 45/15 K/BB ratio over 52 2/3 innings. NewsJon Lester allowed six runs -- five earned -- in six innings in the Red Sox loss to the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
ImpactLester has been a revelation in the early going, but Tuesday was a bump in the road. Even with the loss, Lester still owns a 3.11 ERA and 1.14 WHIP through six starts. He looks to be back to the pitcher we remember from pre-2012. He'll try to be better Sunday against the Rangers.
Jon Lester goes to 4-0 against A's | 04/24/2013 8:00 PM
NewsJon Lester moved to 4-0 despite walking six and allowing three runs in 5 2/3 innings Wednesday against the A's.
ImpactLester was really shaky today after a stellar first four starts, but only Chris Young made him pay and the offense was good enough to get him his fourth win. Young's three-run homer was the first allowed by Lester this season. The six walks tied his career high.

He fanned five batters in the victory and is now 3-0 with a 1.73 ERA and 23/4 K/BB ratio over his first four starts this season. ImpactLester gave up just five hits and one walk and retired 14 out of the final 15 batters he faced. He struck out five. While a win would have been nice, the southpaw owns a 1.42 ERA through his first three starts and appears well on his way to rewarding those who were banking on a bounce-back campaign. He'll get the Indians next Thursday.

ImpactLester struck out seven. The right-hander was excellent throughout spring training and is a definite bounceback candidate after posting an underwhelming 4.82 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 205 1/3 innings in 2012. He will face off against a tough Blue Jays lineup next.

NewsJon Lester delivered a second consecutive strong performance to open the spring, allowing just one hit and a walk over three scoreless innings in a victory over the Pirates on Friday.
ImpactLester struck out two in the contest. The 29-year-old southpaw is looking to rebound from an abysmal 2012 campaign in which he posted a 4.82 ERA and 1.38 WHIP over 205 1/3 innings. He represents a nice buy-low opportunity in fantasy leagues, where there's potential to pick up a front-line starter in the middle rounds.

Rob Bradford on Twitter
ImpactLester is locked in at $11.625 million for 2013 and carries a $13 million club option for the 2014 season, so the Red Sox have no reason to rush into anything. The 29-year-old left-hander posted a 4.82 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 166/68 K/BB ratio in 2012. He was much better in 2011 and 2010.
