He probably deserves it after posting a 2.92 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 18 games -- 14 starts -- for the Pads last season. The lefty could have some NL-only value this season. Stults will be joined in the rotation by Edinson Volquez, Clayton Richard and Jason Marquis, and Andrew Casher (thumb) will also have a spot if he's healthy. A host of pitchers will compete for the No. 5 spot if Cashner starts the year on the DL. |
