ImpactCueto threw five shutout innings Tuesday in a rehab start with the Low-A Daytona Dragons and deemed himself fully healthy afterward. The Reds haven't decided whether Mike Leake or Tony Cingrani will be demoted to clear a rotation spot.

The Reds don't have concrete plans for his return yet, though. "I don't control that, I don't know what they want," Cueto said. "They'll decide what kind of routine I'm going to have next time."

NewsJohnny Cueto (lat, oblique) allowed one run on four hits and no walks while striking out four in a rehab start for Low-A Dayton Thursday.
ImpactSolid results, but the Reds don't really care as long as he felt fine, and there's been no indication that he didn't. Since he threw only 50 pitches, Cueto will need at least one more rehab start in order to get stretched out more. He could rejoin the Reds' rotation next weekend.

ImpactIt's extremely good news after oblique soreness forced Cueto from his Friday rehab outing with Double-A Pensacola. He could head back out on the minor-league trail if he escapes Monday's session without setbacks. Sidelined since April 14 and nursing two ailments, Cueto will likely need 2-3 more rehab outings before taking Mike Leake's place in the rotation.

He's been knocked around a bit this spring, but is entering his age-27 season and could be primed for even better things in 2013.
