Impact

Perez suffered the injury when he bumped into post at the Astros' dugout while chasing a foul popup. There's no word on the severity of the ailment, but the Royals should provide an update after the game. George Kottaras took Perez's spot behind the plate.

The second inning blast of Scott Kazmir was his only hit in four trips to the plate on the day, but it was far and away the biggest hit of the game. After getting off to a very slow start at the dish, Perez has picked it up in recent weeks and is now hitting .273/.278/.390 with one homer and eight RBI on the season.
